It all depends on the type of chicken. For example, the Buckeye, Jersey Giant, Rhode Island Red, and Cochin all have one thing in common, the egg came first. However, in the case of the Australorp, Redcap, Blue Andalusian, or Spanish, it was definitely the chicken that came first. This is a fact, after all, I read it on the internet. 😖mart:
I think you missed the point. Are you special ?What came first the reptile or the reptile egg then
what was the point I missed?......a person asked a question dealing with evolution of a species, I answered. It's not that complicated.
This thread is about chickens, not reptiles. Stick to the subject at hand.

And then there's the dark meat and the white meat....But if you want to talk about eggs, there are the brown eggs, and the white, but the Arcana chickens lay green and blue.....
This is also true....I have chickens... 😄

You have chickens? I know how to answer this question. Debbiejo which came first the chicken or the egg? What I mean is; when you first got your chickens, what did you get first, chickens or eggs?

The question is not lierally about chickens and eggs. THat's the point you missed. Nowhere in the question does it ask about the evolution of the species. Just because you choose to look at the question literally, everybody else does not.

Then give an answer and explain how you came to that answer (show your work).

The chicken came first. Chicken, of course, is meaning egg laying animals in general. You would need the egg laying animal (chicken) to lay the egg, correct? Therefore the chicken (egg laying animals) had to have come before the egg.
In that case, the answer would be "fish".

OK, I tried to go back as far as I could to the first animal to lay an egg. I believe the first animal to have eggs as a form of reproduction is a fish. I could be wrong, can anyone confirm this?
No matter. I understand your line of thinking. That is my new answer to the question. Which came first the chicken or the egg? Fish. I like that.

how is the question not literally about chickens and eggs? you did not ask the questions, Tired Hiker did. Therefore all you have to go by are the actual words that he typed into his post. Tired Hiker asked his question and his question was about a chicken and an egg specificly. The question was answered. You really need to stop projecting your thoughts and ideas onto others. Just because you might have wanted more out of the question or phrased it differently has no bearing on Tired Hiker.......it was his question, his thread.......not yours.

Tired Hiker mentioned nothing about "meaning egg laying animals in general"......and last I checked, chicken is a very specific egg laying animal. I'd be pissed off if I wnet to KFC and they brought me a bucket or platypus, camen, pigeon or rattler. Chicken means chicken.,

Tired Hiker's post is a direct quote of a much older question that is not specifically about chickens and eggs. Tired Hiker also never stated that the question was specifically about chickens and eggs. Without Tired Hiker elaborating on the question, it is left up to interpretation. You are the one with the arrogant posts asking if people are "special" because they interpret the question differently. Contrary to your popular belief, you are not all knowing and your statements have no more value than anybody else's.
