What came first, the chicken or the egg?

Started by AOR19 pages

No the reason why we die is because our bodies cease to function. Not because we think it to be inevitable, but rather because it is inevitable...

Well, the egg came first...

If it's a chicken egg, then the chicken came first, or it wouldn't be a chicken laying it.

It's chickens and eggs all the way back. 😆

Who cares about which one came first? It depends on which path evolution went anyway, i.e. how the chicken species evolved - it could've come from a egg-laying animal or a non-egg-laying animal; and this ancestor might have layed a "freak" egg, or given mamal birth to an egg-laying bird. One or the other(chicken or egg) must have came first, but which one did is hidden in the history of the species's evolution.

Why is it important?

My inquiring mind is bored with this topic, but it seems to be the only thread that is alive these days. 🙁

Ok.. How about an abstract way of looking at it...

There would have to be more than one chicken or egg.. And what if that chicken or egg was eaten... Because it is not the "chickens or the eggs"so surely there would be one of everything else too... And surely those things would have to eat the chicken or egg to live...

And then of course there is evolution which completely wrecks my insane logic....cry

I suppose you could ask if God created a human would he create it as a child or as an adult, the bible never says about Adam and Eve growing up - but then again that book is full of insane logic too...

Or maybe we just imagine the animals and everything on this planet in a weird attempt to give the earth some illusional history, and give our lives all meaning 🙂

I own chickens....and chickens will eat their own eggs if hungry, or if they break on the floor....

And a chicken needs to have the instinct to sit on the egg and turn it every so often for it to develope correctly into another chicken.....

Now what?

Why chickens and eggs?
Why not some other animal why do people always discuss chickens?*shudder* (I have fear of chicken :laugh)

How about frogs and eggs?

ok... What came first the eggs or the frogs? 😐

Which can first the idle or the mind. 😆

The mind, because it made itself idle.

Which came first the body or the spirit? 😄

The answer that actually has basis on scientific evidence and reality at opposed to conjecture based on certain "traditional" perspectives is that, technically, the egg came first. I was originally laid by a particular species of bird that most likely had a genetic makeup of being only a single gene structure away from the DNA of the modern chicken, which has since developed into the various breeds and subspecies, as we know it. Most probably, this particular gene was technically another fluke in genetic makeup that, however, in this case granted traits to the resulting animal that proved advantageous, whether by making it easier to procure a mate or hunt for food or any other number of actions that sustained its life and the continuation of its DNA. Regardless, this gene allowed said chicken to surive/reproduce successfully, and is possibly a dominate gene as opposed to the possible recessive gene of its predecessor, allowing it to be passed on. Also note that I'm not necessarily talking about the addition of an entirely new gene (though that's possible as well), but rather an alteration of an existing one. :/

i guess i depends on what you believe. if u believe in christianity than the chicken came first just as adam and eve were created and as humans

the egg because everything living evolves it was a different species that laid an egg. In that egg was a chicken. But the offspring was different to the parents in a tiny way and therefore is a new species. So the egg came first because the species who laid the egg was not a chicken.
I hope this clears up the situation.

So was the chicken first or the chicken egg? Is an egg defined by what hatches from it? or by what laid it?
