Put yourself in his shoes. Having to have a bunch of little ungrateful brats (i'm not talking about the Harry Potter gang) bugging the crap out of you and help keep this damn kid alive each year, worrying about him and such. Give him a nice long vacation, will ya? He would have died from exhaustion anyway.

I never said he deserved, I said he needed to die.

I suppose... it's important to the plot. Harry needs to get through this alone, which makes me think he'll stay that way until after book 7.
