Oh sure, there have been very good Hobgoblins - but their characters (you know the people behind the masks) have been nothing special - just a bunch of thugs and petty bank robbers.

The best villains make it personal - Harry as the Hobgoblin would a) make it personal and b) stop the movies from being repetitive.

The comics could get away with using loads of Green Goblins - because there literally tons of enemies between Normans goblin episode, and Harrys Goblin episode. In the movies, there would be, like, 2 enemies in between Harry and Normans goblin - it would seem too close together.

Kraven is just a hunter, he doesn't make it personal either.

Nobody cares about enemies that are just "strong", and the emotion is never there. This is why Carnage, in my opinion, is completely boring, as a character.

Give me Lizard, Venom and The Goblin anytime, they make every battle personal. Doctor Octopus and Curt Conners were very influential in Peters life, and Venom and Gobby know more about Spiderman than anybody. They raise the stakes, make the odds that extra bit more forboding.

The likes of Carnage may risk Spidermans life, but in the end he's just a wild one dimensional lunatic - with no connection to Spiderman. I used to love Carnage when I was younger - but as I grew older I understood that Venom and the Goblin, and The Lizard (his whole deal of Spiderman having to hold back on him all the time as to not kill him) are the best kinds of villain, by a long shot.

what u mean with personal? villains to spider or spider to vilaain cos kraven DID made it personally he had to get spidey head a triunph by any cost. having a "so called hunter" on ur trace isnt bad enough kraven once even almost caugh peter on a party. i think that make him personal enough(but the fight scene wouldnt be great although , but the movie would be triller ,) i like to think that way

See, Red Superfly with another great post. Carnage is just scary there isnt too mutch other than a killer there.

all his other villains have deep vendettas against Spiderman AND Parker

so pick joh jona as the baddie, he has the bigest vendetta for spiderman

Spidey is pretty strong...he can throw cars around. Theres no way you can say he couldn't lift his own body weight up the side of a building using only his hands.

about that spider is not so strong.........he can lift cars.....hang them but not throw............yah see this quite well when he claims that what is worth have spider poder and only lifting a small car.i think it was after meetin hulk or other big and strong guy

I think most of the other villians that Raimi will try and produce on the big screen will provide no excitement in terms of a challenge for Spiderman because of the changes made. I mean, nothing really has been suggested or concentrated on Peter's scientific knowledge or ability to trick, or use intricate plans to defeat enemies- just brute strength and unlimited webbing and the cheap slow-motion camera tricks by Raimi to suggest the hint of a spider sense.

eddie brock has to be venom! not john jameson! john jameson becomes the puma! if they change that they will have screwed over years of comic book storyline

Yup, thats a theory I have nightmare's about. they will kill the character if Brock isnt there. Im mean Eddie Brock/Symbiote= Venom

nobody else.

my bad, john jameson becomes Man-Wolf not the Puma

maybe in the movies, Harry Osborn will become Venom, to really piss off 'the fans'... who wants to see Spiderman vs Green Goblin Part 2? Come on! That would be like Michael Keaton as Batman in Batman Returns: The Joker-Pancake's Revenge!

OR Superman 3:The Return of Zod!

OR Tremors 3: Back to Perfection...

OR Terminator 2, where the Terminator is a GOOD GUY!!

oh wait... sorry about those last 2...

😆 🤣 😱

Eddie Brock can suck my c*ck!
Harry Osborn as VENOM ROCKS!!

hee hee!

just kidding, really... although I'm not as rabid a fan-boy/ organics-hater as some of you nut jobs! good stories and theories so far, I'll add the Spiderman DVDs to the collection regardless, because they are good movies, no matter how badly they 'rape the myth and legend and legacy that is SPIDERMAN...' blah blah blah

dude harry osborn as venom is the crappiest idea ive ever heard in my life! they cant do that! there was 5 green goblins

1. Norman Osborn
2. Harry Osborn
3. Dr. Barton Hamilton
4. Phil Ulrich
5. Normie Osborn, Harry's son (alternate Spider-Girl universe)

Norman and Phil, they were the best

you all do grasp the concept that there will not be a Spiderman movie based on every single comic or cartoon bad guy ever invented, right? and also, the fact of 'creative license' when it comes to adapting comic/cartoon characters to live-action big screen scripts?

they can write MJ as the Lizard if they want, and you would all go see it at least 7 times, just so you would be sure of each scene that raped the legend, and come back here and report how crappy and sucky the movies were ALL 12 TIMES you paid your admission price and sat thru the crap-fest...

then you'd go on to say Golly, I sure hope they do better the next time because the last few chapters that I paid to see 37 times each, they all kinda sucked! and If they don't do a better job next time, I promise to all you here on this message board that I WILL NOT SEE THE NEXT ONE MORE THAN 33 TIMES MAX!! OK?! thanks...

silly rabbits.. or sheep, really...

Exactly, people keep forgetting that these movies need to be diverse, interesting and CONCISE.

The comics had millions of enemies because they were released very quickly, one after the other, like a television show. These are movies we are talking about.

Therefore, the movies will always be based on the prime-time villains.

I still say Harry as the Hobgoblin would be a change for the better, for sure. It would be a chance to rectify the mistake made with the Green Goblin costume, provide a brand new enemy on screen, carry on the Harry vs Peter story nicely, and elimate the crappiness that was Harrys Green Goblin, and the crappy men behind the Hobgoblins mask.

Also, it would look incredibly stupid if they have Curt Conners and not bother with The Lizard.

It would be incredibly foolish as to not capitalise on the popularity of Venom after The Lizard.

In terms of priority, another Goblin surely plays second fiddle to The Lizard and Venom.

The flip side of that coin is that Hobgoblin is NOW WHERE NEAR as popular as Venom or The Lizard - so why would you have Hobgoblin after either of them? Surely you would make the villains "bigger and better" with every subsequent movie.

This means, the perfect balance would be to either a) forget about Harry becoming a Goblin at all, or b) Put Venom off EVEN LONGER until after The Lizard and Hobgoblin, to ensure interest stays with the movie. Having Hobby after Venom would be incredibly anti-climactic. Save the best till last.

Or, I was thinking if everybody is SO DESPERATE for Harry to do SOMETHING much sooner, then it sounds like he could actually become a 2nd villain. You could have him as a sort of super-powered Kingpin type character. He becomes Hobgoblin but ISN'T A MAJOR VILLAIN - he just assumes the role of a villain, and has a degree of control over the likes of The Lizard. This would mean you could bring Venom further forward.

It's all starting to sound like a fan fic, but people must realise the movies simply cannot repeat the villain pattern as in the comics, things need to be changed, and the plot arc will revolve around the more major villains.

I'm going by what they should do if they want to have GOOD villains. They could just as easily bring in Venom for Spiderman 3 and balls it all up completely, for reasons I have made clear in earlier posts.

I dont know nothing from nothing about the way of the comics or the time lines or anything, so what about Harry, running Oscorp, funnelling bad-guys thru there using the sciences to jack up the bad-guys to super villains before unleashing them on the City? that way, the story will eventually lead back to the original Parker vs Osborn/ Spiderman vs Goblin (or whatever form the Harry Osborn super-villain takes) and Harry gets to be the behind the scenes mastermind bad guy thru all the other installments up to the revelation of himself as a super-villain to end the series...

Oscorp sciences and advancements can be used as the central core of all the super-villainy, without cops or Spiderman putting it all together right away. All the freaks can come from there, Lizard, Shocker, Rhino, the precursor to Venom, some science experiments shot into space funded by Oscorp, the symbiote returning from space, and keying in on Oscorp as the major backer for the space mission on which it hitchihiked to Earth, etc etc...

can still all revolve around the already-established relationships from the first Spierman, build on them increase the stakes, and end with a battle-royale Spiderman vs Super villain Harry for the fate of the city and the love of Mary Jane...

not that hard to make stories connect up like that, no matter how unfaithful or damning it might be to the frenzied fan boy fanatics

that's what I think

Well all I have too say about these constant rants are. I saw Spiderman once in theaters. I bought the DVD.

I enjoyed the movie for what it was. is it entierly true? no but there are plenty of alternate timelines and universe threw Marvel.

Ultimate Carnage dosent even have ties to Cletus Kassidy or Venom but it's up to Marvel(or sony in this case) to write the story as they see fit.
If you dont like the product, dont support it.
I dont buy Utimate titles. I dont flame them becuase I dont like beating a dead horse

and as far as Venom being in Spiderman 3 I say it's unlikely. he might but Im sure he will show up later.

and Im sure Eddie will be Venom, he's mentioned in the first, Ive **heard** he is supposed to have a cameo in number two. this is what we call building character. they wouldnt do this for no reason

I mean Black Cat(as Felica Harding) is set up for a large cameo much like Curt Connors. maybe we should put of future sequals until they are actually next in line.

Spiderman 2 isnt even out yet

About the organic web-shooters...

I read, I think it was in the official "Spider-Man" movie magazine, that they went that route because it made Parker more "human" and "relatable" if he didn't make them. Something like it would be too beyond the realm of possibility for him to construct them. However, this completely ruins the significance of the symbiote's ability to produce webs as the tip-off that it's alive. IF it gets inserted properly, however. Case in point: I bet ANYONE $20 that Harry will become the HOBgoblin, as opposed to the next GREEN Goblin. I don't WANT that to happen, but I'm guessing it will. Anyway, 2 isn't even out yet, and people are already speculating on 6. Isn't that a little odd to anyone?

Also I heard KASADY was gonna have a cameo to set up for a future appearance, not Brock.
