finally got a chance to see it and, man, was it crap.
it tries to hard to dethrone lotrs but it misses by a mile. or should i say miles.
Why do you say that? Why would it be trying to dethrone LOTR?

[...]and it used, in one scene, the highly cursed zooming technique.
can you telll i really didn't like it?

I highly doubt it was a zoom. But what scene is that?

i liked Troy!
it was a good story line(I have to read the book now!) and the acting was good(strange of me to say that because I don't like Brad Pitt or Orlando Bloom!)
Eric Bana was v. fit!
good film!

yeah. i agree with u there. but i also agree with quiball about the music being inappropriate...sometimes, they'd have like a battle scene or something, and they'd have all this happy music playing...i dunno. i did notice that one thing and it kinda bothered me, but, other than that, i thot it was great.

p.s. it also made me wanna learn more bout the trojan war. like i wanna read "hector's farewell to andromiche" (sp?) and "the illiad" and "troy" and maybe even the oddyssey again, tho that takes place after the trojan war

i really loved it. 😍 Except im sure we didnt need to see so much of Brad naked!

yeah...in my opinion, nudity/sex can ruin a movie...like, there are some things we really don't need to see...if u kno what i mean. like, guys taking shirts off, that's great. really. but anything more...that's too much.

it is very very good

i haven't seen it, and i don't think i will either. i looks quite lame.

good thinking 😉

😛 Exactly what i think 😉

Hi there! 🙂
I've only seen the movie today, and I've really enjoyed, but, its not the real history and there are a few characters missing...
In my opinion they've almost reinvented the history, so they could make it more rentable and more Hollywood style... but the movie is good...
I didn't liked the characters of Paris and Helen, and I've loved Priam and Hector. 🙂 It was sad 🙁 that they left out the character of Cassandra that is my favorite... but its OK... 😄
hehehehehehehe

Kisses! 💃

yeah, Paris was terrible!! Hector was my favourite

don't you think a lot of the scenes in troy look a bitl like lotr? it tries to best, or even just equall, lord of the rings as an epic but it just lacked all the grandure that made lotr great.

the zooming was near the beginning where oddesyus went to see achilles to ask him to fight for agonmenmon (can't spell). achilles was practicing sword play with patriclus (can't spell) and at the end of their conversation, i think, they zoom in on oddesyus, i think. i'm not 100% sure that it was a zoom but definitely 80%

Its a movie about a war. Of course the battles are going to be big and all those sword/spear/arrow battles pretty much look the same. I really do not see it as trying to beat LOTR. Its a movie that tries to be grand, like all epics do.

It was probably a traveling. They rarely, very rarely zoom. Its only done when theres no other options. Zooming destroys the quality of the image.

what exactly is zooming? *confused*

Its the camera closing in on something.
Ever held a camera?! They have zooms.

Finally saw this movie yesterday. It was quite good, even though I didn't like some of the actors.

Everyone was making a big fuss over Brad Pitt in the hype before it came out, but he wasn't really that great. His reading was so wooden.

And I still don't like Orlando Bloom much, but after seeing five movies of his he's starting to grow on me. Like fungus. 😛

Eric Bana was a standout, IMO -- good acting, and Hector was my favorite.

yeah, hector was cool. he was a real character, u kno, someone u could believe. orlando was a wuss an i hated him...like fungus...hehehe

ohhhhhh eric bana was hector!!!!, i saw it last night for the first time and didn't see the credits. He was good . Orlando leaved much to be desired ( lol cant even see myself desiring him anyway.....moving on)

As for Brad pitt as Achilles, he was pretty alright, the only i have to say is ............damn you jennifer aniston, u get have that man all the time.

lol. overall, i thot the movie was great!!!
