Glow Effect

Another tutorial! I'm going crazy ...

I'm gonna make this pic of Hermione (click) and some text glow!

This effect is quite minor but every little helps.

1 Duplicate the layer with Hermione on it!

2 On the duplicate go to Blur > Gaussian Blur and set it to 2.00

3 Set the blend mode of the blurred layer to Lighten.

She glows (slightly)

4 Now get some text and duplicate it. If the text colour is white it works best. Set the duplicate to 2.00 on gaussian blur and you should have something like this :

cool, but i just use the glow effect on picassa. theres also a shading tint, and all sorts.

oh yeah, and i made this BG aswell, i used gimp for it, and this is how i did it:

1) make a picture 450x150
2) make a new transparent layer. this new layer goes at the top.
3) fill in the bg layer with elctric blue, then use the smudge tool (the pointy finger) to blur it all, till you just have a blue and light blue swirl
4) make sure the fg colour is black, then change the gradient to fg fade to transparent.
5) on the new layer, us the gradient fill and go from the bottom right up to the top left.
6) ta daa!

The smudge tool is most useful when used with scatter brushes ✅

yeah, i know wht you mean. thats how i make hazes. ive just spent 20 mins making 5 backgrounds, and they're called:

gold rush
blue haze
silver rock
jungle
flames

I'm using PSP, but this should be PS compatible ...

Choose a normal grey colour... then it should allow you to add a texture. Choose a texture and bucket it into a relatively large blank image ... 😛

If you don't like it unaltered , go to Gaussian Blur or Motion Blur and make it look as nifty as possible. I'd advise a motion blur. 😉

Create a new layer and Activate your brush and use the default brush ... none of the fancy ones 🙂 Then randomnly pick colours and scribble all over your beautiful textured grey until there is none of the grey left!

Now you should have a yucky, multicoloured mess.

Go to gaussian blur and put it to 30.00. Click OK. Now it looks better ... ?

Set that layer to overlay, soft light and alter the opacity a bit and you should have a rather pleasant sight in front of you.

Duplicate that layer and add an effect and repeat this until you like what you see. And remember, blend modes are your friend.

And voila!

That works well if you go to the picture tube, select coloured spheres and then fiddle with the contrast.

Good tut, anyway 😛

Now (hopefully) my sigs will have some of my own textures on 'em, and not just stuff off quilt covers I find on the net w00t 😂

I made two textures and a new brush set for PS....if anyone is interested I'll post them 🙂

I made them for Photoshop CS2, if you use the ABR Viewer I linked in the resource thread you can convert them for other versions of PS or PSP.

I've got about 12 other brush sets I've made so PM me if you'd like them; they're all on my stock account on deviantart (which I think you can figure out the username of from the file names and such....😛)

And another brush set....haven't put this on DA yet, I want to know what people think of it.

Purdy, Lana.

Anyone have a link, or care to explain to me how to create animations on Photoshop?

http://www.pixel2life.com/tutorials/Image_Ready/All/

Basically, make each frame you want in your animation a different layer, save it as a PSD, import it into ImageReady, in the animation pallete duplicate that first frame as many times as you need, then unhide the layers one at a time on each frame.

And thank you 😊

Thanks so much, Lana!

Perfect Pics ...

.. in three easy steps.

1 Open the desired image and duplicate it.

2 Go to blur > gaussian blur and set it anywhere from 1.00 - 5.00

3 Set the duplicate to hard light.

This may only work on bright images but it sure looks good 😄

Okay, I edited the first post to include this, but I'm posting it here as well.

Please do NOT PM me with questions! I get enough PMs a day as it is, and really don't feel like answering every single question that people have. Google can answer 99% of them for you.

does anyone know where to get imageready for free? ive heard its good for animated sig making

It comes with Photoshop.
