Technical help. As in, how do I get a particular effect, how do I do this sort of border, how do I save it under the file size, etc.
Not "what render should my next sig use". Save that for your own thread.
A transparency is when something is "see through"
In signature terms, a transparent signature is when a part of the signature blends in with whatever background there is on Internet explorer 😉
However, this can only be achieved in GIF format, as in JPEG format it will come out white.
When only a render comes out of a signature and the background of the render is transparent, yes the signature near his feet has a background, thats called a POP-OUT signature, as it looks like the render is popping out.

GIF is not the only file format that can support transparency; PNG can as well. Hence while nearly all renders are saved as PNGs, it's a much higher quality file type, but is also much larger in file size.

How do you find out the KB size of you sig?
save it then hover your mouse over the actual file, or got to file-save for web/devices (it might just be web) and from there you can save it small but with good quality, and it tells you the file size there aswell. Remember, PSD is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay bigger then JPG.
Can anyone tell me how to make a really cool looking grungy back ground?

It's 50kb actually. And people have done it on more than one occassion. Hell, people managed it before the size limit was raised and was still 30kb.
welll, if yu made one now, you are kind of semi cheating, seeing has you have no max limit. Thats the only reason i would become a mod, too much hard work without that benefit.
