hey, i have a question about the PS2's driver options.

when i was browsing through the drivers list, there was an option to change the texture mapping, the options were:

* standard
* smooth

default is standard, but if i changed it to smooth, would i looks framerate or anything? just wondering if anyone else has done it.

cheers for info in advance

I have to go with the gamecube on the best console system, only because:

A - It has the small, compact disks that hold the same amout of data that a PS2 or XBOX disk holds.
B - It has form-fitting controllers for your hands, they are the most comfortable out there (although the C - stick sucks for old 64 games)
C - It has the fastest loading time (even though the XBOX has a 766 Mhz processor, and the PS2 ties with the Gamecube at 442 Mhz or something around there, give or take 50 Mhz)
D - It's got the best line of games for the recent systems (Halo and the GTA series were supposed to be coming to the GCN when they allowed Sonic and Final Fantasy to be on all the systems) - Yes, FF started on the Nintendo, check it out sometime if you don't believe me

Again, this is my opinion, and you all have yours.

Sorry. But i dont think your right.
Gamecube dics hold less data than PS2 and XBOX.

no.... it doesn't 😐

dave123!!!!

Loading time has nothing to do with hardware, it's how the game is actually developed.

Simple XBOX - more features - better graphics

PC rules over all!

Again... grahics don't make a consule. Gameplay does. Great graphics can certainly get boring, especially if that's all the game is. I don't feel that Xbox has enough games of any quality that would make me want to actually buy that heavy box. The one and only title on there that's exclusive and worth getting, imo, would be Halo 2. That's it. Most other games that come out for Xbox are also released on PC, PS2, and/or GCN. And the so-called "exclusive" titles aren't anything groundbreaking from what I've seen. There are equally fun/playable games, and better, on PS2, GCN, and PC.

What other features, the ability to play a different song during a game? Not going to make me want to get an xbox either. I prefer the music that the game developer intended to be played, usually. DVD playback is a rip, you have to buy the remote for $30 to even have it possible with the Xbox... PS2 you can just use the controller straightaway. And their remote is $5-10 cheaper, anyway.

Exactly. Everything has to load, if it's on a disc, which Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft use. Load times, well, we can thank cruddy developers for long ones, and for short loads, we can praise whoever fixed that in their games.

Yep but we are not talking about the games on the consoles, we are talking about the consoles themselves aren't we?

Xbox is very good compared to other consoles

Xbox Live is a very strong feature which when faced againts PS2 and PCs online capabilities is alot better. PS2 because its very hard to set up and the absence of a 'Friends list' On the PC (I know on certain games you can have far more players) it can be very hard to connect to certain games as firewalls and anti-virus come into play.

There is a few good exclusives on Xbox;

Halo
Halo 2
Ninja Gaiden
Burnout 3(better Live features)
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
Project Gotham Racing 2
RainbowSix 3 Black Arrow
Full Spectrum Warrior
Ghost Recon 2

Oh yeah the Xbox comes with a hard drive which will never fill up in your life time. Now I would be annoyed to have to buy a memory card! Isn't that just like the DVD remote??

Try not to get fussed over the DVD remote I think everyone now has a DVD player.

The DVD is still a rip. I think games sorta make the consule what it is. Burnout 3 is also on PS2, live features really aren't a big deal not everyone cares about online play. There are plenty of Splinter Cell games, and if memory serves, Chaos Theory is coming out for PC as well. Ghost Recon 2 is also on all 4 consules, although the PS2 and GCN are different versions, the PC one remains the same as Xbox. There's not much use in having a hard drive, the only thing it's good for is game saves, and memory cards are inexpensive. If you wanted to bring game saves to a friend's house, you'd either have to lug the mass over, or buy a memory card anyway.

Xbox Live is a very strong feature. A harddrive is also a strong feature, but you end up paying for it just like you would with a memory card. But a memory card, you can take anywhere and play while if you save stuff on the harddrive you cant.
Some of the the games that you mentioned are not actually exclusives to the XBOX
Halo (PC)
Burnout 3 (PS2)
Splinter Cell Choas Theory (PC,PS2, GC)
Full Spectrum warrior(pc)
Ghost recon 2 (PS2)

The others are XBOX exclusive. Well Halo 2 will probably be ported to PC sooner or later.

There's not much use in having a hard drive,
Except for the fact that you never have to worr about a memory card ever again. Plus you get to download stuff online and there is over a million Xbox Live users.

yeah you can also download stuff for ps2 also. on snake eater you can go online and download diffrent camouflages and stuff like that and the online play for socom is awsome. and it is gay how you cant just watch a dvd on xbox you have to go out and buy that dumb remote witch cost's more then a memory card. and if you dont have a memory card for xbox and you wanna play you saved game at another house you have to carry that huge tank around. and ps2 also has the hard drive so you dont need a memory card if you have that. and the new ps2's are the best!!!! just got one about 1/8 size and weight of an xbox

The PS2's are a sham. They should develop the hardware to look like that in the first place.

Technically I'd rather have a PC than any others but purly for games it has to be PS2...

(a) It has a dvd player (gamecube doesnt)
(b) The controllers are ergonmic, simple, and the PS2 shape is (Unlike X-Box/Gamecube)
(c) The best titles are on PS2 (X-box also has excellent titles).
(d) You dont have to play on a keyboard.
(e) You get more accessories with a PS2.
