The Suggestion Thread

A lot of the new members reach 50 or even 100 posts in 2-3 days, a week at best. By that time, they would still not be familiar with finding information and resources. So I would see this as only a temporary reprieve. It is also this active group of new posters who are a "problem" while the responsible new - not as errr... spontaneous - posters would be affected by this restriction as well.

Well, it would basically take care of the spammers that open a thread with their first post. It might also deter the Trolls that do not get the gratification of their threads getting attention right away. And, basically what threads need to be opened before you reach 100 posts that are so unbelievably important?

I still think it would be a positive overall.

Alright, I'm not going to read through all near 4000 posts so if this has been suggested or is far fetched, get over it. Lol. What about I.P banning? Though it isn't going to be 100% effective it would get rid of the people that create sock accounts after being banned and try to join back on from their computer with another alias. Just my imput though.

We have that already, I belive.

We have it, it's only used in extreme cases.

Could you not do it on a sort of time basis rather than post... Like after a month or something?

Yeah, That would be much better

A month just to make a new thread? Come off it....a day at most, otherwise people will see it as too enforced or lose interest and go elsewhere.

a month is a bit long maybe shortern it to a few days

A month was just an example...

New members already have a higher thread restrictions than normal members.

How so?

People under a certain amount of posts can create fewer threads during a certain time period (I can't remember what it is) than someone that has more than that number of posts.

It should be length of time here, because some people that i know (one person in particular) has been here about 7 days and already has hundreds of posts, and bad threads, it's called spamming. I used to, but after two years i still only have 800 posts.

a couple of hundred posts in a week is fairly common for new members ... I think I had 1,000 or so in my first month... though I've calmed down a hell of a lot since then. I've currently made 15141 posts (not many threads though) ... but I've been here almost 2 years

I know one guy who had made his 10,000th post by 2 months-ish of membership

Basically I think it should be a combination of length of membership & post count

It's in place to deter people who try and come in here and post spam in every single forum. No spammer is going to stick around to get enough posts to create tons of threads.

Another thing that could be added is a rate thingy. You should be able to rate threads based on originality and usefullness. That way if new comers make alot of bad threads, then it'll change their options for later.

Here is a suggestion, there should be a Star Trek forum dedicated to the Star films series, Original Series and TNG (The Next Generation)
