The Suggestion Thread

People take warnings or bans like they were speeding tickets. They more likely try to talk their way out of it. Even worse when they have their friends coming out and backing them up....it makes it even harder. This isn't the first in the history of KMC these kind of things occur. Back in 03 we had a gang (using the term loose) from the LOTR. In those days there were no notes or ban threads and they were release from our community.

Nowadays, things have change. Fact is we also have some charlatans going around waiting to pick a bone with a moderator. So not only do we have watch out for Trolls, socks, nut jobs, sexual harassers, and others...but we also have to deal with swindlers.

We're not here ready to bust someone. We're hearing to help the community. I certainly didn't appreciate the way I was treated for making my decisions and it's not easy sometimes. But I did it anyways...so I left...but then the good people of KMC showed me that they appreciate me and for that I thank them and glad to serve them.

So, you are not stepping down? Even after that PM you sent me? That is...bold, though, I knew it was just a fake to get sympathy, well, I took your behaviour to Raz, but he hasn't been on since.

jaden- I didn't mean anything in that context. The subject was people blowing off steam about their treatment by mods. That is to be done in private. meanwhile, your system of providing links is a. forcing mods to justify decisions in a way which is not a reasonable or necessary and b. would often be FAR too much work as some issues in that are are very complex and depend upon earlier warnings. Mods state their reason, that is it. If you want more details, PM the mod.

Use of this board is a privilege, an experience provided by Raz who foots all the bills. The activities of the mods also make that privilege possible. This is why they are entitled to make decisions without being subjected to such attacks, and this overrides the needs others have to talk about it on the boards. There are numerous chat solutions available in the world to talk it over in private so there is absolutly no mneed at all to do it here- none.

I also think you are basically talking nonsense, bardock. The paranoid world you speak about where you can get instantly banned for day to day behaviour... does not exist, and it nos even vaguely what these boards are like. As mentioned, bannings are actually relatively rare.

Publlic warnings are also a necessity to make things clear. If those piss people off- sorry. Tough on them. The rules are not there to be argued, only followed. The habit of some posters have of arguing all decisions to death was extremely detrimental to the threads and very much needed stopping- and indeed it has greatly decreased recently since we started being more hardball on that. This is a good thing.

These are the things you have to abide by to maintain your posting privileges here- privileges otherwise provided at no cost at all. The overwhelming majority of posters do that with absolutely no trouble.

And no, WD is not stepping down, though you calling his genuine distress a fake to get sympathy is... very poor of you, bardock.

So- to re-state. This discussion is pointless; a thread to discuss banning issues would be a bad thing, and one will never exist again.

That's how it seems, he viciously insulted me before "stepping down", from my point of view it is obviously a move to garner sympathy, meh, I don't care whether he steps down as long as he stops randomly ban people for nothing without a warning. I hope at least that came from it, I still find it sickening that he can just insult me like that without any repercussions whatsoever...

I am sorry, I have no sympathy for his "genuine distress", he didn't suffer, imo, and nothing changed.

And I am not saying that the paranoid behaviour is justified, I say it exists and is caused by certain behaviours.

That's just a ridiculous contradiction, to say you weren't saying it was justified but WERE saying it exists. You cannot say the second without thr first.

It doesn't exist. At all. And your opinion that WD did not suffer is about as wrong as you can possibly be.

I've said all I am going to on this matter. The situation is not going to change.

Well, he's back, as predicted. On the rest I guess we'll just have to disagree.

As for him insulting and attacking me in PMs, will there be anything done about it, DK has been warned that he might be banned if it continues, is there a warning for WD on that matter?

Either way, at least I doubt he is going to ban as readily, without warnings again, so I am not too worried about posting in the GDF, in the same manner as everyone else, including Global Moderators, on topic, anymore.

Mods wouldn't like to be publicly bashed

Well, duh. I mean, there IS the fact that bashing is against the rules...ermm

What is always best to do in those sort of circumstances is to ask fellow Mods (and normal users maybe) whether or not they feel you have perhaps acted improperly. Even if you had- one feud with a little hatemob should never be enough to force you into resignation.

There is no excuse for walking away from responsibility. Which I admit to have committed. I was easily intemidated and it was in poor character. A mistake I will not allow to happen again.

You also insulted a member after asking them to contact you in PM. A mistakes, I am sure, you will not allow to happen again, seeing as you have apologized for it.

No, wait, you pretend it never happened...

What utter nonsense, you talk.

Alright, cut it out, this argument is entirely inappropriate. This recent habit of bringing PMs into public things is something to be looked poorly upon also.

Alright, though I think people are accountable for what they say no matter if it was entitled "private". Especially if it's on the in-site messaging system. And I just wish he wouldn't play the martyr returned for the good of the people...it's just insulting, considering some of the stuff. But there's no point...so, whatever.

Just out of interest does anyone (Mod/Admin) other than the user have access to other peoples PMs? Just I know that some sites have software which identifies keywords (say ones identified with possible predators) and alerts the appropriate siteofficer.

Does KMC have anything like that?

Raz says that PMs are kept private from everyone, including him. Though, I think he could look through them if he wanted to, just chooses to grant this privacy.

Though I say that from memory, I am sure it has been discussed before, probably in this thread.

You're exactly what I told you via pm and I'm not taking it back.

You're a crook!

At least trolls are honest when they want to cause conflict. But not you! You be-friend certain moderators to gain support. I notice this for over a year. This is why I no longer wish to socialize, intereact, or even talk with you anymore. When someone sees through your filthy and dirty disguise of a fine KMC member. It's a lie!

You been doing NOTHING but taking me on. It has been very clear that you have bad blood with me. It obvious you continue to call me to instigate, harrass, and attack me in anyway possible.

Well, it stops here! This is a final warning to you. You provoke me once more and you will be given a two week ban. Since you want this to be public...let it.

The warning have been given. So drop it NOW!

I am not actually close friends with any Mods, I talk to Captain Rex and Lana occassionally, because we are in the same RPG hosted by Ush. So, I find this a very unjustified attack, to make. I dropped, it over 8 hours ago...so, I don't exactly know what I have been warned for, and threatened with a 2 week ban. Could you explain to me, what exactly I mustn't do anymore? Maybe in PM if you don't want to extend it here anymore, which I realize is off-topic (though, i actually made an on-topic suggestion, which was discussed that lead to this situation)

[edit] And I'd really like the function back in which we could see how many posts were made by which poster in a particular thread. It was an interesting addition, I thought. Why was it scrapped, again?

Bardock, you face a wall of this:

Might as well drop it.

Oh, FFS, everyone just knock it off already ermm

If I remember correctly, Raz removed it because it was using up a lot of server resources.

I rather liked that particular feature, too...

Hmm, I guess it makes sense, probably would take a lot to calculate all the posts in the 1 000 000 post thread 😛

So, I guess like the Picture Search Function, possibly lost forever...they were such nice features too.

Yeah, both of those were neat...not necessary, but cool, and I liked both 😛
