I visited V101 several times after that, and one time he suddenly was there. However I've grown so tired of him messing everything up so I haven't picked him up for ages, so far I use Charon, the Ghoul companion.
Megaton Settlers will continue to give you gifts until you turn Evil, in which case you can actually get gifts from the Slavers in Paradise Falls.
But yeah Fawkes is the best companion, he's a Super Mutant, and he either wields an Energy Gattling Gun(infinite ammo) or a Super Sledge(which attacks faster and is stronger than a normal Super Sledge).
But he only follows you if you are good.
This isn't a review just my initial thougts on the game, like I don't have a score and the comments are brief but i'll still have a review for it soon.
The game has heavy systems reqs. Running it on all high (or ultra high) gave my system a bit of a challege. And I have 2 9800gt's in sli, a quad core pentium processor, a 10,000rpm, 300gig velociraptor harddrive and 4gigs of ram while on w. vista and dx10. (maybe it's time to overclock.) The graphics are jaw-droppingly gorgeous but during action bouts my system tends to slow down a frame but I can still manage playing it. I might end up dropping a setting or two down a notch if it becomes continually bothersome.
I played the game for about 3hrs. and I found myself forcing myself to be patient with this game. (rpg's aren't really my thing) But I felt the same way about mass effect which is similar, to me. I hated mass effects' guts. I thought i'd never get used to it or get into it and after forcing myself to be patient with it and getting into the story more than the game, I fell in love with it and it became my 2nd favorite game after assasins creed, in 2007. Followed by bioshock.
The game kinda reminds me of segas' shenmue which was ok (it was after all segas' greatest hit of all time)

Actually, Fawkes is actually a girl, if anything. She was a girl to start with, and due to the changes caused by the FEV, became asexual.

And yeah, you find Fawkes in Vault 87 through Little Lamplight, you can get to Vault 87 two ways I am aware of, one is through the little cavern "Murder Pass" I think it is called, which is a little cave full of monsters and stuff, the second is by hacking a terminal in Little Lamplight that unlocks a door that connects directly to Vault 87.
