The Magneto opening was just way more gritty and emotional. Nightcrawlers opening was cool too, but it doesn't sum up the discrimination and hate that is the theme of the movies like X-men 1 does.
you're going past the damn scene 😆
all it showed was a young magneto crying & bending a fence. 😐

Actually I liked that opening scene...it was like he was being ripped away from his parents, X-Men first class shows how truly pissed off he was. And it wasn't just him bending a fence...well ok he did bend a fence but it was also the birth of his mutant powers.

still doesn't hold a candle to X2 opening...

I agree with those saying X-men's opening was better than X2.

Anyway my favorite is a toss up between A New Hope or Inglourious Basteards.

are we talking about the same scene?

Howls moving castle is beautiful

Terminator.

Terminator 2, one of the most overrated movies of all time. It has all the great things you expect and the special effects were definitely early.

Dude if you think Nightcrawler rushing through the White House is the ultimate idea behind what makes the cut for "best film intro" then that's your call.

I prefer deeper inspiration. The intro to Tobe Hooper's Texas Chainsaw Massacre was simply perfect. Pulp Fiction's criminal couple G'ing themselves up to rob a diner was also perfect.

The intro to Terminator 2 exuded ultimate cool. Much more heavy hitting than X2. Actually when I think of the beginning of the original Terminator I rate it better.

In the film West Side Story: The aerial shots of New York City's West Side, which gradually zero in on the finger-snapping Jets on the school playground.

In The Town, as much as I disliked this film as a whole: The aerial shots of Charlestown, MA( which The Town is short for).

Antichrist.... a breathtaking opening, beautifully shot, staged... stunning.

Shame the rest of the film couldn't match it.

James Bond Casino Royale.

Best movie opening for me was Lethal Weapon 4; where Riggs and Murtaugh have an entire conversation about becoming a father and grandfather while some mad man shoots their car and stuff to pieces. Then the car is crushed by the tanker and Murtaugh ends up (almost) naked.

I think Drive just entered into this conversation.
