X-MEN and the story behind their costumes

And..

Joining Banshee’s paramilitary outfit, Jamie received the standard X-Corps uniform, made of black leather with red trimming. The outfit was completed with a black version of Multiple Man’s trademark hood/headpiece. [Uncanny X-Men #401] Even as part of the X-Corporation, Jamie still wears this uniform.

Hmmm... What about Kurt's girl, Kitty...

When Kitty started training at the school she was given a basic X-uniform, like most new X-Men that were still inexperienced in the use of their powers. [Uncanny X-Men #139]

After seeing her perform in concert, Kitty designed herself a costume modeled after Dazzler’s. Much to the X-Men’s amusement, Kitty wore a golden skintight suit, a similar pair of roller skates and some ballet leotards on top of it. [Uncanny X-Men #149] Xavier, however, was not happy with this design and reminded Kitty that one had to earn the right for an individual costume, so she returned to wearing the standard outfit.

muhaha I've a pic of this costume... and Kurt's opinion 😄

😂

that's funny Dez 😂

i should continue then...

When the X-Men returned from space, Xavier wanted to place Kitty in the New Mutants. Only after she proved herself capable of handling herself she was allowed to stay among the X-Men. With that, also came the right for an individual costume. [Uncanny X-Men #168-169] The outfit presented here is the first of several others she briefly tried out during that phase, until she left the team after Colossus broke up their relationship.

After encountering Ogun in Japan and receiving ninja training, Kitty returned to the X-men with a new codename, Shadowcat, and finally settled on a permanent look. The blue outfit is the costume she wore longest. [Uncanny X-Men #193]

At a time when Excalibur was down to only three members and everyone of them, besides Kitty, no longer wearing the costume of when they formed the team, Kitty decided it was time for a new look. The outfit contains several pockets filled with gadgets and weapons. [Excalibur #71]

When Ogun returned as a ghost inside the computer files of SHIELD, Kitty was temporarily given the status of an intern and asked to help with the situation. As one of SHIELD’s agents, she wore their standard outfit, [Kitty Pryde: Agent of Shield #1-3] but after returning to Excalibur she again wore her regular costume.

After Shadowcat broke up with her lover, Pete Wisdom, she adopted a more aggressive mood and a new, dark and simplistic costume. The purpose of the added cat-feet was never explained. [Excalibur #122]

Returning to the X-Men after Excalibur’s disbanding, Kitty returned to wearing her blue and yellow outfit, though without the massive shoulder pads. Truth to tell, this resulted in a look very similar to the standard X-uniform. [Excalibur #122]

And...

A few months later, the X-Men decided on a new team look, all wearing huge Xs across their chests. Kitty’s costume included one of Wolverine’s bone claws, which she used offensively as a weapon. [X-Men (2nd series) #100]

Recently, Kitty decided to quit the X-Men and, therefore, no longer wears any form of costume.

That's all for now...

Let's do some checklist of what has already done here.

Here's the Russian 'Man-of-Steel'

Colossus’ first costume was designed by Xavier and given to him when he was recruited as part of the second generation of X-Men [Giant Size X-Men #1]. It contains a pair of blue paints but, as the costume is made of unstable molecules, they vanish when he transforms into steel. Colossus returned to this classic look several times.

i meant cjury i mussed have. jury your the best keep posting man.

Shortly after the X-Men returned from the Secret Wars, Colossus decided to try out a new look. [Uncanny X-Men #184]

Shortly afterwards, he tried out another costume. This one alluded to European military uniforms.

Apparently Colossus didn’t feel comfortable with either one, as not much later he returned to his original costume. [Uncanny X-Men #210] When he later rejoined the team (after recovering from severe injuries) during an emergency, he was actually fighting in his underwear, as his civilian clothes tore apart when he transformed into steel. [Uncanny X-Men #225]

When the team was living in the Australian outback, Colossus just wore pants, boots and two armbands, all made out of some metallic substance.

Long months later, when the X-Men divided into two strikeforces, Colossus once more wore the original uniform. [X-Men (2nd series) #1]
