No kidding...ever see the flash movie "End of the World?" It's about what'll happen if someone decides to set off a WMD and ends up with Earth more or less getting destroyed.

We really have NO use for WMDs except for the fear tactic. And the fear tactic is going to end up with us all blowing ourselves up. Not a very good thing that is, now is it? But of course most people don't see it that way...

Yeah, indeed. There has to be one country to hand in the WMD first, then for everyone to follow, but you know, if that was to happen, i think theres always gonna be a country that might refuse, which might lead to a war...might not, but could.
Like PVS said, that will not happen not in our lifetime anyway.

As System of a Down says: ''4 000 hungry children leave us per hour from starvation while billions are spent on bombs creating death showers''

I dont see the logic in chosing war over peace, nor do i see how people can do that!

Did you know that arround 80% of people killed in wars are civilians? Thats sad and very unnecessary...

And also, I'm amused at the hypocrisy of the US when it comes to WMDs...we were the first country to develop them, we are the only country to have used one, and we have FAR more than any other country...yet our government is going around telling other countries to disarm.

Hah, OMG Thats so true.

But then again America wont be the biggest power in the world forever...I think the next biggest ruling power might be China...thats my prediction...

The best thing ever would be if everyone just gave up the WMD...but that isnt gonna happen anytime...soon

Is a long shot but I wish it was possible. What scaleted (sp?) the problem was the fall of the Soviet Union. There were to many unaccounted nukes. Many generals sold the nukes in the black market and of course one of the buyers was Saddam himself. Now that's only speculation, but the fact is that the Fall of the Soviet Union caused many nukes to be sold or remain missing from the Old Soviet Military bases.

I know it won't happen in our lifetime...I'm idealistic, but in a realistic sense. It WOULD be very nice if it did happen, though.

Good song 👆

I don't see the logic in it either, and yeah, I've heard that statistic before. That's horribly sad.

I also don't like how so many Americans think along the lines of "We're so much better than everyone else and OMG you disagreed with me therefore you suck!!!" That pisses me off so much...especially when so many Americans act like that and then wonder why half the world hates us! Guess what, Americans are no better than anyone else. And yes, I AM an American. I just don't think I'm superior to anyone else, regardless of where they're from or where they live or what they think or anything. And don't get me wrong, I don't hate the US. Just a lot of people in it.

That's what I was thinking when I saw this on the news
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/3690732.stm

people are afraid.
and we SHOULD be afraid, fear is a good thing.
it keeps us facing reality. but Bush and co. are using
fear tactics to gain support. they may as well say
"vote for us or you will all die"

i find that scummy....just downright scummy.
they have not succeeded in making the world safer,
as they claim...they only succeeded in making us more
afraid.

and i cant wait till 2 weeks before the election when tom ridge
gives yet another completely vague terror report. after his next
report, he should say"....vote for bush"

as i said, fear is healthy when it forces us to face reality.
but the bush administration uses fear to make us irrational,
and act out of a basic human need to be safe, even though
we are accomlishing nothing, other than lining their pockets.

Yeah...remember the whole "plastic sheets and duct-tape" thing? That was ridiculous.

remeber the alert for the prudential building in newark, nj?
that was based on pre-911 intelligence.

I know there are others, like myself and everyone else you named...but sadly the vocal majority are the people I described. If everyone was like that I would have given up all hope for this country and moved.

PVS -- about the fear of terrorist attacks...in downtown Chicago, they put up massive concrete barricades in front of a lot of the big buildings - Sears Tower, Hancock Center, etc...are they really necessary? No. The only thing they could possibly do is keep someone from ramming a truck into the building...and in downtown Chicago, there's no room to drive trucks. It's ridiculous and a real eyesore.

Well, I must be going, time for my statistics class...so I'll continue this debate later ✅

That's copyrighted, you owe me $20

Nahuh nahuh you didnt do the sign thingy at the end of it, i get away with it this time.

Shux, I really needed that money.

hysterical We have already destroyed 95+ % of our nuclear arsenal and 100% of our gas/chemical/biological weapons....

OMG you get your ideas from musicians 🙄

Force is more then most the only thing that madmen and aggressive nations can see as a remedy.

Civilian casualties only occur in the modern age when the enemy uses civilian facilities as cover.... 🙄

The first attack on the world trade center was a truck filled with explosives that got into the underground parking garage. Terrorists constantly ram into buildings with truck bombs and car bombs.... one well placed explosvie can bring any building down. Ugly but necessary for high level targets.

trouble is, the youth in south korea seem to be turning anti-american.
the danger in that is they seem to be willing to accept control by north korea.
they really have no idea what they are inviting. older folks in south korea know the real deal, but the kids are the future.

i think the REAL solution is revolution. its sloppy, lots of people die, but its contained. however, opinions of the youth in SK seem be leaning toward a unification of korea, under a communist dictator...bad news indeed.

I have a friend who is South Korean and visits frequently... he says they consider North Korea evil. 😐 America is one of its strongest allies... there is no way they would ever surrender or give up thier obviously far more prosperous economy for dirt poor North Korean conditions... 60% of N. Korea's economy goes to arms.
