in hp where is the power coming from? If it's not from God, then it's from Satan. YOU said, magic/witchcraft could be good or evil depends on who used it and how they used it, But Gods power will only Turn out Good. YOu can't serve 2 Gods. if you deny 1, then you serve the other. If you're not using the pwer for good, then you're using it for evil.
and I've never ever heard that the wisemen were magicians, thats a new one on me and the bible doesn't say that.
And simon WAS a sorcery, you gave me great scriptures, but... in the scriptures as you read down, he became a follower, a beleiver of Jesus Christ and he changed, he was not one any more, nor did he practice it. Magic is from this world, Jesus said: John 8:23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
And talking about spells: you had an awesome point on Will power. WE have the right to chose between good or evil. Jesus or satan doesn't make us, BUT if you put a spell on someone, does that not break someones WILL??
If it doesn't Glorify the Father, then its wrng. Magic glorifies the world, Self, thats not of God. When you become born again christian you're to be a new creature, old things are passed away and all things become new.

Yeah that would be showing us That Good can defeat evil. But...the good that is defeating evil is it always good? Or does that good put spells on people, when they do something to them? A spell breaks the persons Will. That is NOT of God. And I thk it teaches people that when someone does something to you, just put a spell on them, another words do something evil back to them. I see no good in that.
thats exactly what i was talking about was will power. the moral of the books is all these goods going against some greater evil, and uniting in hopes of defeating it. I mean, stories of king arthur where merlin was his advisor and greatest friend helped him do well. a great example and comparison with harry potter is to lord of the rings. sauron and gandalf both have magical powers. but it is up to YOU to decide what is right and wrong. you cannot tell me gandalf's power came from satan if he used the maggic innitself to destroy evil which in essence WAS satan.
just like in harry potter. just because they have magic doesnt mean they're bad people. you say magic is evil, so then harry is using evil against evil? hes trying to kill a man that has kiled not only his parents, but his colleagues and many other people well? so his intentions are evil if he is using magic? you cannot classify magic into good or bad. the PERSON makes it so. voldemort is downright nasty and in essence, just EVIL. however, harry is using everything that he has to STOP this evil, even if it is magic. stopping someone that has taken so many lives...i cannot see how that can be an evil act itself. just like in lord of the rings...all the elves...all the white wizards...they used their magic and wisdom in the finale battle to eradicate the ring, which is a symbol of the essence of evil. so your saying its still evil vs. evil? even if their intentions are pure?do not judge people on what they were born with. that they cannot help. judge people on how they use the gifts which they were born with. its kinda like saying....lets substituts magic for money. now you would be saying money is evil, but people like oprah (i knoe i know =] ) USE that money to do good. she bought a WHOLE COMMUNITY in africa clothing and food, and all their kids toys. you can not say things like that are evil acts just because she has money aka: "evil"
Well his Aunt, Uncle and his cousin all treat him like dirt, they made him sleep in a closet because they didn't want him, because he was magic. But he does nothing to them, on purpose, before a magical child goes to hogwarts or anyother school, the powers just happen.
Like one time his aunt shaved his head because she didn't want to waste money, getting his hair cut. And she shaved his whole head but his bangs, and Harry didn't want to go to school like that ( i mean come on would you?) and he was up the whole night worring, but when he got ready for school the next day, his hair and grown back and he didn't know why.
But all in all the worse time when Harry gets so made he goes back for revenge is when Harry's godfather dies because another person had murdered him.
He accidentally blew up his Aunt Marge one time b/c she was being evil. He goes through the most AWFUL things in the books by his own famiily. They all make him out to be some freak and Aunt Marge was insulting Harry's Parents and said something about "If something's wrong with the ***** then somethings wrong with the pup....." not those words exactly but pretty well much that and that made harry REALLY angry so he blew her up like a balloon...but did not kill her. She was fixed.

admittadly, she deserved it.
Obviously, there was something wrong with her mum. Cos her and Vernon turned out rotten.
From the sounds of everyones opinions in here, it does sound like he had reason for the things he did and it sounds like good vs evil. I just dont like that fact that the whole movie is about a witchcraft school to teach you that stuff. I mean maybe the movie is not real, but...it can be. Satans powers are real and they can over take you, and it does arouse curiosity up in you like: is it real? is it fake? can u realy do spells? can u tell the future? thats what i don't like about it
