5, 15, 16- That's all Orlando Bloom... it has absolutely nothing to do with Legolas as a Character.
9- You won't find many elves that aren't... and Thranduil was merely acting sensibly. But that's another discussion (that I'd love to have^^)
13- He's an elf and just doesn't see why he should be blindfolded in an elven realm; it's not that he thinks he's better.
17- Orlando Bloom again... But ever had broken ribs? I respect actors who play despite injuries such as those (besides, it would have taken long to fully heal I bet)

Legolas in these movies didn't take Glorfindel's place; Arwen did. And there just aren't too many Balrogs around at that time, so repeating that procedure might not have been easy... Besides, Legolas is too young to die^^
