DC Films Vs Marvel Films

DC was once the big money maker with Batman and Superman. Now Marvel has taken the crown away from them with X-Men and Spider-Man. Marvel was once the embarassment of Hollywood between 70's-90's and now DC is. DC wants to make Marvel into nothing again so their first big move is to destroy the X-Men franchise in any way they can since Spider-Man is too big for them to handle. However Catwoman has slowed them down for a while. They want to put the finishing touches on defeating Marvel by making another Batman and Superman film. While both still have other side projects like the Fantastic Four and Flash Gordon. We will have to stay tuned for the next 2 years to find out who the final champion will be.

well i hope Batman and superman dont do better than FF.

You can say that Shadow King, But I want Batman to be better than Spiderman 1, (Which is hard to do) I mean BAtman 89 was great, Batman returns, was a ok movie, But not as good as one, and Batman forever was a bad movie, and Batman and Robin is not even a movie imo. I want Batman to recover from what Batman Forever and Batman and Robin did. Its not a lot to ask, but it is.

Couldn't care less really. If they're all good movies then it doesn't matter surely. The only ones at profit are the fans. As far as end product is concerned.

I hope the Superman movie is decent. Batman movie has already been and gone, another one wasn't that great. Who the hell cares about The Flash? No one.

I think the Fantastic Four film will do badly for plenty of reasons.

1. Jessica Alba is playing Sue Storm

2. The director of Barbershop is directing it.

3. The budget will be between $80-$100 million compared to an average of $150 million for a comic book film.

4. The film will be released together with Mission Impossible 3.

DC : The first Superman is still the best superhero movie ever in my opinion. But all the Batman movies where painful, to say the least. And I refuse to mention Catwoman.

Marvel : two great Spider-Man movies, two almost as great X-Men movies, one decent Punisher movie, one bad Hulk movie. O yeah, before I forget, a very average Daredevil movie. And the FF movie will probably suck too, I'm afraid.

only DC movies i liked Bat phantom,Bat 1,Bat returns, SUpes 1,2,4

I also hope that Batman Begins does great but I don't really care that much about another Superman film. You can't expect Batman Begins to do beter than Spider-Man 1 because thats too much to ask for.

Stephen Sommers Adapting Flash Gordon Source: Variety Thursday, August 5, 2004

"The Mummy", "The Mummy Returns", and "Van Helsing" writer/director Stephen Sommers and his producing partner Bob Ducsay have landed the rights to Flash Gordon, and will adapt a feature film based on the iconic comic book superhero for Universal, reports Variety. Sommers is producing the project and may write the film. He has yet to direct a project he hasn't scripted.

Flash Gordon dates back to 1934, when it was created by famed comic strip artist Alex Raymond, and for decades after appeared in movie serials, animated fare, TV shows and a 1980 feature helmed by Mike Hodges ("Croupier"😉.

1. I agree coz she's a terrible actress.

2. Sam Raimi directed The Gift, which sucked. Then did Spider-Man which ruled.

3. I also agree on the budget factor.

4. I don't see what effect this would have.

Well Batman 89 was better than Spiderman 1 imo, But each to his options I guess.

1. don't care

2. doesn't mean much

3. Don't be blinded by the budget. Great movies have been made with little money. And don't forget there are no real big stars in the movie who run away with 20 % of the budget.

4. So, who cares about MI 3 ? Brian De Palma and John Woo didn't 😛.

i did not Batman in 89 at all. Tim Burton is messed up imo. Also Michael Keaton did not fit the role of Batman, or Bruce Wayne. Complete dissapointed

marvel also produced the blade trilogy.... which is great, except i havnt seen the third yet. even if they didnt do as well as others with money making, they were great stories.

Blade : damn, I knew I forgot some movies 🙂. Blade was not too bad.

". Don't be blinded by the budget. Great movies have been made with little money. And don't forget there are no real big stars in the movie who run away with 20 % of the budget."

Exactly. Chris Evans isn't gonna want multi millions.

I think that The Film Prophet has a problem with Jessica Alba for reasons other than her acting ability to be honest. Which is BS.

The blade movies were EXCELLENT films, although more like underground comic movies because they strayed quite a bit from their roots. Their popularity did have marvel change the character though, which says something about them, doesn't it ?

All I said was Alba is playing Sue Storm then you said she was a terrible actress 😉 Anyway the budget is important because they need as much money as they can get remember having to put the Torch into flames, spaceships in space, Reed stretching, The Thing's costume, Sue's invisibility and shields. This is not cheap and if you want to make it all look convincing its pretty difficult to do with a budget like that.

Spider-Man 2: $210 million

The Hulk: $150 million

Spider-Man: $150 million

Superman: $200 million

Batman Begins: $130 million

X-Men 2: $125 million

X2 cost so little.

Marvel is supiror to dc
