Yes, I noticed that comes into play rather quickly. Now who gives these religious people a clue as to WHAT is to be taken literal and what isn’t?

well, I did ask people a while ago to post a definitive list of what to take literal and what not and on what they base themselves up to say that... no one responded

Okay, can I ask you guys a question? All right, if I broke into a house, damaged the owner's vehicle beyond repair, raped the children, killed the husband, wife, and other kids that they had, took their money, and then burned the house, would that be wrong?

I’m getting ”this” in your precious Bible. You should read it some time. And, NO, Gen.17:15-16 here Abraham marries his sister and God blesses the marriage – so does God approve of incestuous marriages? Do you?

Considerign the means in which the bible says that the earth was populated by two people..... 😑 i think that it can be assumed that bro and sis at one time .... that time namely did 😂 😛 and it was ok... no commandment says not to marry your sister if i remember correctly 😂 not that i would 😂

to us or to the bible? the bible has some lines about some of your holy guys having a rape and of course the eye for an eye... so they don't mind

To whatever YOU think.

yes it would be wrong, even people with no religion would consider those action to be wrong. Morals doesnt have to be a religious treat

That was under the old law, old testemnet. When Jesus died for our sins, Grace was our new law. it's no longer eye for an eye.

it's no longer eye for an eye
yes it is ,your preciouce leader of the US retaliated to an attack with ,according to him, with gods blessing.
Always believed in eye for an eye

what finti said... now you're discarding the OT again and mark my words in a few posts you'll quote that book again 🙄

I am NOT disregarding the OT, i'm simply stating we are under GRACE now.

FE> How do you know that Jesus' thesis-antithesis speech is to be taken literally? So much OTHER stuff in the Bible is symbolic...

then it's easy: it's still an eye for an eye and the NT contradicts (yet again) it

Anyone else?

if your post had a point, get to it 🙄

I just want a few people I know here to answer it, then I'll get to it.

Apparently you didn't understand me, there is NO contradiction. The law changed when Jesus died on the cross, GRACE is now here. Thats no disregarding the OT at all, WE can all learn fromt he OT, there's GREAT stories there, GREAT learning expericences. The thing that changed was the law, not only Jews, but the gentiles EVERYONE can come to Jesus now. There's no more sacrificing animals.

There is alot of symbolic things in the bible, you can tell whats symbolic and whats not by the way it's worded. Parables are giving you an example of what he's talking about, there's things like that all thru the bible. Alot of times when my husband or I have questions and i'm asking God, he directs me to a scripture, thats how you know. 🙂

WHAT is symbolic and what NOT? cause you easily change what you want when you don't see it fit in your little arguementation

come on, make an entire list of every single phrase people shouldn't take litteral and why it's like that before going saying that all 🙄

I have a serious question. Why is it ok for God to murder, and not humans? Yet God is perfect? Sounds flawed to me.

Okay. If anyone of you answered "yes" to my question you have proved to yourselves that there is a God.

Think about it, if we are all evolved bacteria, our lives, the universe nothing has purpose then. So if I play along and say that this universe is evolved and there is no creator, life is meaningless, so why is it wrong for me to kill someone? Why is it wrong to steal? Why is ANYTHING wrong?! I'll tell you why, because we all have spirits (souls) and are naturally born with knowledge of basic right and wrong given to us by the Holy Spirit.

If you said yes to my question, life has meaning.
