The Bible...to the faithful, is perfect in every way as to them it is the "words of God" which if unsanctified would not be included in this book.
Even although - as has been said before - the books of the Bible are really only - to me also - a mish-mash of unconnected fables and flawed interpretations; to one of the faithful they are all correct and perfect.
When a person who has faith starts to lose that faith he or she will then start to look at the Bible with different eyes because THEN they will see the flaws and the contradictions and the outright lies that are contained therein.
When a person like me - who was born into bigotted Protestantism in Northern Ireland - stops and examines the religion thing with a clear vison that is not clouded by doctrine and dogma, I think that that person cannot fail to lose all faith in the promises of religion and must subsequently become either agnostic or athiest if that examination is carried through to it's ultimate end.
