What about a book on theoretical physics, or one on "what if" scenarios, or what about a book that was about dreams, are these fiction or non-fiction. I don’t think you can divide it into two parts without having a gray area.
The nature of the books in question will determine their respective classifications.
For example, if the dream book contains empirical information about dreams, then it is non-ficition, but if the book is about dream interpretation, it is fiction.

Point is there is a gray area, and books like the bible fall into that area. Some of the bible is fiction, and some of it is non-fiction. The problem is not with the bible, it is with the lack of understanding that some Christians use to interpret the bible literally.

Which parts of the Bible are non-fiction?

It's bullshit as far as I'm concerned. As South Park said, it's a collection of stories that help guide you through your life, not to be taken literally or seriously.

I completely agree 100% with that. It is pure crap and i duno why christians get all offended when people insult christianity. I mean, christians spend their entire lives trying their hardest to convert as many people as possible to christianity and insulting other religions. Saying, nope they dont have a bible, theyre not real. Or, theyre not real, only god is, we have a lot of proof, let me show you. THATS BULL!!! And most all other religions do have equivalents to 'bibles' though not half as stupid as a bible. God's diary my ass. It's a bunch of stories written by a horde of deluded men. Whats there to believe in that, I ask you? And if you take a book (aka bible) and put your entire lifes devotion onto it, will that get you anywhere? No it wont, and christians are just brainwashed idiots. Every other religion makes a lot more sense ... save catholism, but let's not even go there. christianity is bad enough of a problem. I need to straighten these stupid christians out. And god is not ur friend. god does not exist. You cannot relate to god because hes not there. You cannot communicate with a book called the bible and say your talking to god, because theres no such thing as fcuking god. god is a pure hoax. Yes do not spam me with emails insulting me for telling you the truth about christianity, because I dedicated a few braincells just to try and put you guys straight, and I do not need crap comments for doing a good deed.
HEAR, HEAR! I agree with you, 100%!!! 😛

Well, the first part that comes to mind is Revelations. Revelations is a true anti-Roman propaganda code-book from the first century that should have never been put into the bible. Genesis is a collection of fiction and non-fiction stories, of which many of the original stories have been lost, with the exception of Gilgamesh, and it may have been based on a true story. There is more, but I don't want to do the research.
There was actually a really big argument over this in my Studies in World Religions last semester. The professor stated that the Bible was a ficticious account based on real events. She explained that the characters in the Bible existed, but that the events that are told in the Bible may be exaggerated...they might've not happened that way. This is because the things that are said to have occurred in the Bible took such a long time to be recorded that by the time they got around to it, they'd forgotten a lot of things and started to make them up.

That sounds like it could be true, I'd agree with that. 🙂

The DaVinci Code contains historical figures and describes real places and events, but it is still fiction.
Non-fiction

The DaVinci Code in not an ancient book and we can talk to the author and determine the intent. Are the sutras of Buddha fiction or non-fiction?
The Sutras are a textual discourse spoken by the Buddha or one of his disciples. They describe actual events, people, places, and things.

In a way, parts of the bible are the same thing, just other people talking. If someone believes that the world is flat and that gods and demon control the universe, and writes down the history as he sees it, is that fiction or non-fiction?
