The Official Symbiote Thread

Fever, you took the words right out of my mouth. It's like they're repeating the same mistakes that they made in the 90's. We'll see Toxin in every other comic from now til 2015, and people will hate all the symbiotes.
People should learn something from Paul Jenkins. He made Fusion, who was pretty cool, but he only used him twice. He used enough stories as it was necessary to tell his story, and then left the fans satisfied. Not only that, but he tricked the fans into thinking that he was short-changing Doc Ock, but then made him the real bad guy anyway. That's some good writing.
That's what's been plagueing the symbiotes: Over-exposure and bad writing. Oh yeah, and the fact that, for about ten years, Marvel was writing stories and had no idea where they were going with them. The Clone Saga was a perfect example. Also, I hate to say it, but Maximum Carnage was another example. It was a cool story, but it really didn't need to be a fourteen-parter. Basically, we spent 28 bucks on a story that could have been a four-parter instead. I wasn't really impressed with the abundance of second-string heroes, either.

It was too much filler and not enough of what needed to be there. Deathlok? C'mon... deathlok was shit. They could've done a 14 parter... with actual 14 parts of story.

this link leads to a great story full of symbiote goodness you may need a basic understanding of teen Titans (cartoon) to understand what is going on but if you're just there for the symbiotes i wouldn't bother)

__It's the SAME mistake they once made with Venom that they'll probably make with Toxin- overexposure! They do it with each sym, hell, they do it with every charactor that catches the public's eye. They have to diversify with syms, not consolidate! They need to be playing with all 3, in turn, and making them distinct. The stories should flow somewhat continuously from one to the next, but focus on each individual. A miniseries every four months... That would be fantastic. Instead, they may run Toxin into the ground, then bring back Eddie, then Clete...

[rant on] That is EXACTLY what they're gonna do! EXACTLY!

God, its enough to put you off the whole freakin' mess.

What is with this idea that no matter what, we must not have too many symbiotes around?! That is so ridiculous. It's like there's a symbiote population-limit and for a new one to come on board, someone must go. STUPID.

I think what the problem is here is that people really do want to see these characters. The higher-ups at Marvel, however, honestly hate them. Don't want to use them. So we get little trickles of exposure.... but never enough, because that would require thought and planning on someone's part. We rarely get character development or anything like that.

I'll also go on the record right now as saying I am sick and damn tired of the good guys winning every single time. It is NOT REALISTIC. Everywhere we look, its the same damn overused plot. And hey, if the story doesn't support the hero winning, well we'll just have the villains act totally out of character to fit that in! [see end of V. vs C.] Marvel is TERRIFIED of good not triumphing, so they pull stupid stunts like that or make the heros too powerful. If I wanted to read that kind of crap I'd be reading Superman.

[rant off]

it said i coulp post pics 🙂

__Heh, yeh...I usually have the bad guy kinda sorta win...but I leave the ending open to some imagination...now, why not do that, Marvel? That would be fine in a miniseries.
__At least they haven't "killed" Eddie...yet...I'm hoping that Millar brings the sym back to him at the end of the arch...or at least makes it clear that Brock survives.

Well, I'm going to try to post something...probably won't work...

I DID IT! LOOK, MOM, I POSTED A PIC! Wouldn't this be cute on a baby-doll T-shirt?
__Thanks to Silver Sable in Eddie's Clubhouse at SHH- Bad S, you have to check it out sometime.

The Eagles are going to the Super Bowl!
Anyway, I agree wholeheartedly about the lack of stories where the hero loses. The last time I can think of that Spidey really lost a fight to anyone was the Black Turantula, and that was quite a few years ago. Honestly, I don't see how he's actually surived against the likes of Electro, Hydro Man, and Carnage. Those three individually should have more than enough power to kill him.

spidey should be bug bit's by now

oh well. at least we know that he can't survive a goblin glider to the back.

Attention:I have found more pics of our 2 leading men.Anyone want to see them?
