ok....so im not sure if the times were completly the same..but, then ur basing how good it is simply because there were no other FPS worth playing.....kinda a sad excuse if u ask me basically saying "halo was good because all the other games sucked" so then ur saying that it ony seemed good because it was better then the other games? and if so then that does not make halo good simply it makes it better then other games at the time....not a very good argument...
thats the same as saying for example the toronto maple leafs win the stanley cup, then the nhl is in a slump and most of the teams are not very good at all, and although toronto might be better then the other teams, its still not very good, so to say thay toronto is a good team simply because they were the best of the worst dose not make them the best...
Halo multiplayer. That's what made Halo good, like Unreal Tournament series. It's either multiplayer, or.....well, just multiplayer. What impresses me most is how Halo dramatically changes to Halo 2. Graphics are better, DUAL-WEILDING....cooler weapons, Xbox live vers was a heckofalot better. I wanna dual wield with Battle Rifle and Plasma rifle. Metroid Prime 2 didn't have much drastic changes. Health bar format changed a bit, different weapons and enemies, blah blah blah. Graphics pretty much stayed the same. I would rather get Halo 2 than Metroid Prime: Echoes anyday.

That's a similar time actually. A year isn't much difference.
But okay, I'll do one better.
Half Life. Came out a good 3 years before Halo and did everything halo did (minus the useless novelty of vehicular combat) just as well if not better.
The big deal about halo is that it's practically one of the best shooter games ever ( besides rainbow six 3). It had an awesome start and people just fell in love with blowing the crap out of people with rockets and destroying people with the shotgun....Plus...u should have warthog battles...they are amusing for a little while....
Metroid cannot compare with Halo...The master chief owns Samus!!!

I got to his house eager to play this "amazing FPS" that everyone had been talking about, but when I got to playing it, My responce was "This is a better then average FPS, thats all.." I then proceeded to beat the game on the medium difficulty in a few hours.....I was not impressed. Would someone please expain to me why this "amazing FPS" is so amazing, because I think that about 75% of why this game was "amazing" was the insane amount of hype about it....I really hope that when I get the call from my friend to come and play Halo 2 that it is far far better the the first......

keep your bigotry in check, metroid prime "is a first person adventure game" not a shooter.
also, halo has a story that is a main part of the expierience. metroid prime's story is picked up through reading the scans.(and the awsome books series..less than 20 bucks for all 3)
Halo 2's story is now the key point of single player, not mindless shooting, and conversation tidbits.
also Half-life has no where near as good graphics, or AI.
