Why do people like Halo that much?

I at first really didnt like Halo and the X-box. I'm a harcore Nintendo fan, and I didnt really like the ps2(still dont) and so I always dissed on Halo, and even when I did get to play it, I tried to down play it. Simply put....I thought it was FRICKIN AWSOME. timesplitters 2, and medal of honor dont come close, unreal 2 was pretty good.....I ragged because I didnt like microsoft's x-box ruffin in on ma ome` boys turf. I got a X-box from relatives...I boght halo, and now the x-box never comes unhooked form the tv...sorry gamecube..I still love you though...

in regards to halo on xbox.. I havent had so much fun since goldeneye on N64 (and believe me I had alot of fun on goldeneye (even more fun than Ive had on halo))

while we(halo fans) can all agree it's not a perfect game, its still one of the best damn times you'll have on an X-Box.

It's all Ive played for 4 months now. I should beat my gamecube games....but i'm to unmotivated...

and as my closing statement I got one thing to say...

the whole fan community of Halo makes your question as too why people like it redundant.

example:Red vs Blue:internet webseries, uses Halo's multiplayer game type to make movies, about the red and blue team in blood gulch.

I found the first 2 episodes funny... but then it quickly became monotonous... at some points I would swear there was 40 seconds of dead air.. all for an attempt at comedy.. Personally I prefer the halo trick videos over comedy skits..

Also judging popularity based on fanbase isnt such a good idea.. look at fast and the furious (<--- hates that movie so damn much).. just because everyone goes outside and makes a rice rocket after seeing the movie makes it good? 😖

yeah, just like the previous versions that had absolutely no storyline and only sold good because you could shoot people at will and have sex with prostitutes, great game 🙄 🙄 🙄

any way, its kinda like...well..

look at it this way. in all respects all of the good fps's people list off are good in their own way.

doom 3 is just great frantic shooting ect, farcry's graphics are nice, but the older weapons..meh and the vehicles arent that good.

unreal is awsome, but you get fragged so much..

in reality, people list off all these fps...but is their a single darn one of em on the console?

i mean, first. it gave console players somehting they had never seen before, along with vehicluar combat, and a giant 1 of a kind console multiplayer blood bath. a thumb sticks never going to be as good as a mouse, but playing halo on the pc just seems to lose something. the way the controller feels, and the buttons..along with how the sniper rifle works...its all part of the feel of it. its like how ppl cling to starcraft. even if its old, and their prob is osmething better, its still fun to play.

Doom 3 is coming to the X-Box next month. Far Cry is also coming out for the X-Box.

Halo 2 catches on with console gamers because of the easy to use control scheme.. auto-assist aiming and context sensitive commands.
i.e.
press X to reload..
press X to enter warthog
press X to pickup weapon

what do you have against halo backfire? i mean, its still a great game, in all respects, even if its only good for lan parties now. its still a fun and and great game.

also, satsujin said it perfectly, its its awsome controls, first of it's kind gameplay on a console, cool futuristic plot line, and cool vehicles to drive around on a console in. i mean, the controls just feel so perfect on a console...hey satsujin..wanna bet that farcry and doom copy the halo control scheme? that would just take the cake.

i honestly dont know why you have such an intense hate of such a good game, all i ever hear you ***** and whine about is, doom 3 and farcry this, or it sux, tribes did this first. i mean, by your logic, all fps suck because they all copy doom 1, or golden eye. i mean, seriously man, dont be a hater.

Yeah, how much you wanna bet Backfire comes back and says that only people that don't know shit about FPS and don't have any experience like Halo, I've heard it over and over again, I still havn't heard a case as to why it is "bad"

I dont own an xbox, my friend does..he called me over a few years ago to play this game that I had heard abot for the last few months...called Halo, I was excited because of the hype of this game to say the least. I got to his house eager to play this "amazing FPS" that everyone had been talking about, but when I got to playing it, My responce was "This is a better then average FPS, thats all.." I then proceeded to beat the game on the medium difficulty in a few hours.....I was not impressed. Would someone please expain to me why this "amazing FPS" is so amazing, because I think that about 75% of why this game was "amazing" was the insane amount of hype about it....I really hope that when I get the call from my friend to come and play Halo 2 that it is far far better the the first......
