They didnt die at the crash.

They all died at time before Jack, after Jack, or around the same time as Jack.

The bomb seems to have created the purga-alt-timeline thingy.

It seemed to suggest that Sawyer's plane never made it.
And that he Kate, etc died then.

Which would explain their age in the Alt timelineamatorything.

Maybe Locke WAS telling the truth about the C4 rigged to the electrical system on the plane.

He seemed to have all other bases covered...

The bomb didn't create anything but what was suppose to happen. It made what the hatch was. Thats it. They flashed back to their normal time after completing the task that they always had to complete. Just like the other flashes (most of them) they always had to do something before they moved on.

The purgatory, i'd like to think, is just jacks purgatory. And everyone he cares for is there with him.

Then how did Desmond, on island, know that he would be sitting on the plane with everyone else? He was seeing glimpses of the purgatory life, so I believe it to be a collective purgatory.

Whenever Island time is in relation to "our time"......it could be that if the island exists outside time that that could be anytime, as far as we see it.

We know that people get shot in that time though. Like who ever was on that outrigger.....I still think that that was potentially Hurley and (or at least) Ben buying it in that boat.
