ok to clarify this statement I made
I think that the only group that prefers the SE's to the Original version are the people that saw them first. If you saw the OT in its theatrical release back in the 70's & 80's the SE's suck IMHO.
This statement came out not in the way I meant. What I meant by this was that it seems to ME that a large group of people who have only seen the Special Editions or saw the SE's before the theatrical versions say the Theatrical Vers. suck because for them it was a step backwards of sorts. It was just an observation. It didnt mean that I dont think they are true fans of Star Wars.
The second comment is my OPINION only......and I think thats what's IMHO means doesnt it? Or am I wrong about what those etter stand for?
Sorry if this came out wrong, I was a tad torqued at the time.
can people stop writing replies as long as a novel?
its pretty damn annoying having to read the whole thing.
or at least put a space in somewhere to break up the words.
and stop arguing about the damn green/blue saber in ANH. we're not going to resolve it so just take whatever colour you think it is and be done with it.
Either way I am glad they are out. Though I am demanding to find out what is the deal with lightsabers and the audio problems.
Going back to the boxes around the ties, I looked at the 1997 edition because I thought they were removed. Nope they had them too, I guess the restoring process just brought them out more.

not in a reading mood eh? and that was nothing..some of the posts in the philosophy forum are 5 times that long.
Nobody questions if Luke's saber in ESB is green or blue. EVERYONE knows that it's blue. Same goes with the new saber in ROTJ. Same with all the sabers in the prequels. Regardless of whether or not Luke's saber is blue or green or cyan or whatever the hell, the point is that there is confusion, whereas in every single other scene, it is extremely easy to distinguish the color of each saber, either blue or green. We shouldn't be having to argue that it's slightly more blue than green or vice versa. They should make it the absolutely rich BLUE of every other blue saber in the saga.
Oh, and it's definitely green.

Speaking of screams, they kept the Wilhelm scream in ROTJ I noticed, when Boba Fett goes flying into Jabba's sail barge. I figured they'd get Tem to do that as well, but SW and Raiders are famous for the Wilhelm revival.
While there are many changes i don't like in the Special Editions, i also know there are many that enhance the film no end. In that sense i'm stuck on middle ground when it comes to opinions about the changes. So, while i will happily praise the new boxset for amazing sound and definition, i cannot see why i should be forced to accept that my eyes are deceiving me over the colour of Lukes saber in ANH. That sabre is quite clearly green, no ifs or buts and if, as some people say, this is an optical illusion, the people at Lucasfilm would also have noticed this 'trick' and corrected it. However they didn't, which just goes to show that Lucas is not quite the purist that many of his fans and staunchest defenders make him out to be.
That saber is Green. 'nuff said
