legolas has enhanced speed and han solo has the power of...the only character with an american accent in the film

aragorn is a dunedain ranger, his strength is at the top of human strength while luke has....a nasty wart on his face and a lightsaber

by the way i'm just being completely sarcastic and having fun with this thread because its just funny

Whew, I'm glad you said that, I thought I hadn't made my own sarcasm clear enough.

C3PO would take'em all down anyway.

dude, lukes nasty wart could kick aragons ass.

I think you'll find that's because Lukes wart is jam packed with midiclorians.

LOL Jesus christ, that was clever 😆 😂 you get a cookie for that one my friend 😂

The plot in Sw is crap, whereas LotR has a amazing story line. YOu'd understand more if you'd read the book too 😛

I did read the book's. Even though it wasnt written very well, i do agree that it is one of the most engrossing fantasy stories out there. saying the plot of star wars sucked, is just wrong. you may not have liked it, but the concept was turned into a very well thought out story that had much depth and fantastic character development. That is one thing that the LOTR story lacked, Character development. Star wars combined numerous genre's of story telling and styles into a single story. I am not trying to say that star wars is a better story than LOTR, just trying to show that it isnt a crap story.

"That is one thing that the LOTR story lacked, Character development."

With that many characters and so little time, what other option is there! 🙁
Considering the little time they had, it was still prettty deleloped...kinda...ish...;/

I was talking about the Novel's. I beleive that the films were executed brilliantly, and would have failed in any other way. they diddnt capture the same feel of the books, but created there own atmosphere, which was like experiencing the story all over again in a different way.

"Swords cut flesh and blasters burn skin. Go figure"

-and lightsabers dont....?

"With that many characters and so little time, what other option is there! "

-....you mean NINE 1/2 HOURS of film?

See the thing with lightsabers is that only a Jedi or a Sith can use them. Whereas swords can be use by anyone (including little hobbits). Using a blaster is just like using a gun....they are too noisy. Swords kill without too much noise. Great weapon for stealth attacks.

What i gather from your statement, is that a single jedi could level the entire world of Middle Earth.

SW:
-Movies-|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
-Books/EU-||||||

LOTR:
-Movies-|||||||||||||||||||||||||
-Books-|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

That's how I see things.

Not exactly a thumbs up rating scale is it?

A Jedi or a Sith might wipe out a lot of riders of Gondor. But of course a Jedi and a Sith are not invincible....it will take a pretty good skillful swordsman to put up a fight. Ligthsaber much like a sword requires great skill to handle. Jedi come in different clases not all of them are skillful with the lightsaber. A Jedi with poor skills in the art of the lightsaber might be weak agains't.... let's say.....Faramir.

"they are too noisy."

-are you an old woman? 😛

the only problem i see with that is when you strike something with a lightsaber it cuts through it. so if faramir try to strike ob1, his sword would be split inot, then with one quick and easy slash from ob1s lightsaber faramir would also be split in to.....still it would be an interesting match.

Nope, just an assasin that uses stealth to kill his victims silently. 😛

Obi no doubt is very skillful with the ligthsaber (just wait till you see him figth Anakin in Episode III) and no doubt a lightsaber would melt a sword if they are crossed. Now if it was Anakin fightin agains't Aragorn is very likely that the King has the upper hand. Anakin is a great pilot but his skills with the lightsaber may not be enough to defeat the King! 😉

so you think Aragon could defeat a jedi?

Lord Of The Rings did have character development, I have to admit.

Gimli and Legolas becoming best friends despite their differences. Frodo having the strength but not enough to destroy the ring. Boromir's and Faramir's characters are reinforced with each other. Pip and Merry becoming completely unlikely heroes (LOTR's very own Ewoks on Endor), and Sam becoming a brother almost to Frodo. There's also the screwed up Gollum of course.

When you look at it like this, it's amazing how similar LOTR and Star Wars really are.
R2D2 and C3PO are like Merry and Pip - two completely out of their depth heroes that observe the action around them that is greater than them, and yet they get involved and play a huge part, and are also the comic relief double act that everyone loves.
Darth Vader is like the old king (cant remmeber his name - dude defetated Sauron ages ago) but fell to the dark side. His heir has to pick up the pieces. Sauron is the pure evil like teh Emporor.
Luke Skywalker is a lot like Aragorn crossed with Frodo. He's like Frodo, because he's constantly battling "the dark side", and he develops like Aragorn, from an outsider to realise his destiny, and is also the heir to a legacy himself.
Then you've got Legolas and Gimli, who are obviously the cool sidekicks that resemble Han Solo and Chewbacca. Constantly bickerring and talking to themselves and forming a solid friendship with each other. Han and Chewies relationship also resembles Frodo and Sams.
Han is also a lot like Aragorn aswell, he has the love interest, of a Princess no less, very simlar to LOTR's angelic love interests. The girls also provide excellent arse-kickery when the going gets tough.

Of course, they are different too. We didn't see Aragorn and Eowyn (sp?) arguing all the time like Han and Leia for instance, but on a personal level, they are similar movies. What sets them apart is that personally for me, Star Wars does it with more style and charm.

yeah. even though LOTR has alot of good CG in it, star wars has a more in depth storyline.

Sure! an average Padawan or a Jedi yes! But someone like Lance Windu or Yoda no way. Heck it would be nice to see Doku vs. Saruman.
