why are you an atheist?

I am an atheist because I do not believe in God, or any almighty being creating the world. I am much more inclined to lean toward the scientific theories, if only because they sit more comfortably in my mind.

Does anyone consider themselves agnostic? Basically you accept that you can't know if there is or isn't God. So you can be agnostic and not profess true atheism.

I found out what agnostic means in the deleted scenes on the Donnie Darko DVD. Sounds good to me.

BTW I did not read the whole thread, there is too much too read.

I used to consider myself agnostic, in that I hadn't enough knowledge or life experience to make a definite decision. But my beliefs have strengthened and I now see myself as atheist.

I used to be agnostic, but like I said, I question everything. No one was ever able to give me an answer that satisfied me, so I now see myself as atheist.

Yeah, but I've feel uncomfortable calling myself an aethiest, regardless of my beleifs. So Agnostic it is. But I back it up by saying, I accept I don't know if there is a God even though my experience would lead me to beleive there isn't.

I should say I don't think there is anything wrong with being atheist. And I'll probably be calling myself an atheist next time I think about it anyway.

Age/experience theory. Simple really, but I did think that agnostic became atheist as experience grew.

heh, "There's an exeption to every rule" is a paradox, and proves itself untrue if it is true. It is a rule itself, and therefore must have an exception to make it true(which means there IS a rule without an exception), but that exception would render the statement false.

I hate that line.
