The Surfer is one of my favorite characters, but Korvac (at one time a human computer technician) could defeat him easliy and his power was based in obtaining knowledge. Somethign not too different from Cable's ability to use his telepathy.
And Korvac shared similar thoughts as Cable regarding peace, unity, ending suffering, etc.
Radd takes it, if he wants to.
Guy's too much of a pacifist though. He, along with thor, is supposed to be one of the most noble of heros.
He's also one of the poorest written heroes. I mean, this guys supposed to be a shell around a store of energy...why and how does he feel pain? Why the heck would anyone with this kind of power engage in hand-to-hand combat....ever? I remember the cosmic carnage spider man issues, where SS moves carnage off into a pocket dimension to contain him...duh, why didn't he do that in the first place?! Then you had a bunch of issues where SS had his energy 'drained' from him...oh geez, those are painful to read. You'd think a guy who could track a single molecule across multiple dimensions would be able to sense a trap.
I digress...with someone with such ill defined powers, it's nigh impossible to write a scene which truly captures the 'cosmic' nature of his powers...so the writers pretty much use the standard fair of blasts shooting from his fists, and demonstrating SS's class 100+ strength.
As for his transmutation powers, let's not get to literal here. Marvel writers aren't too good in the physics/chem department...when they mean 'molecular' re-arrangement, they mean transmutation. Need an example? The "molecule man"...who definitely had the power to manipulate matter and energy as he wanted.
In fact, in secret wars II 9, ol' SS and the molecule man reconstruct some huge swath of inhabited territory the Beyonder vaporized.
As for Cable vs. SS, going by the cover Cable's getting the bad end of it (well, at least his armor). But I find the blurb for the issue more disturbing...according to it, Deadpool's the guy who's gonna be the one who comes to Cable's rescue...oh dear...
hmm. cable takes this, i say this cause the surfer has enough destructive power to level a whole city approximately, while cable's powers are only second to nate grey and franklin richards, so if nate could destroy a whole state with a single psionic spike while having near no mastery of his power than cable at full potential can do a lot more,
Cable has always had a great deal of psionic energy pent up, much like X-Man. But the reason he could never use it was because Apocalypse infected him with a techno organic virus which diverted all of his vast powers into keeping his body from being eaten away by this virus. In essence the virus merely diverted all of energy into keeping him alive. Anyway later on in Cable's series " Cable #100 " Nathan was able to cure himself of the techno-virus or so he believed at the time. When he " cured " himself his powers had become unleashed and gradually grew at an exponential rate. Currently it was revealed that he didn't cure himself of the virus at all but he did however grow more powerful than it allowing him to unleash greater energy than even X-Man displayed during his short but great life. And there you have it....the origins of " God-like " Cable. It spans from Cable #100-107. Soldier X #1-12. And currently Cable & Deadpool #1-9.
In mainstream though he apparently cannot be totally cured of the virus since it has bonded to his cellular structure. All these long years dealing with the virus has allowed it to latch onto his DNA sequence. But I'm sure the writers will change that sometime down the road. They always do drastic sh*t like that.
.
And Cable won't have the time to do all that because SS is so incredibly fast, his body would be worthless in the time.
Nope, Cable can make a TK forcefield. Im not sure on what he can do to SS's mind though but I wouldnt put it out of the question that he could battle Surfer for supremacy in his mind. Still though surfer wields the power cosmic and possesses an indesctuctible body...
I cant give a definitive answer either way. If Cable cant get to his mind, SS wins though I think. Surfer can take some punishment, a lot more than cable can. Surfer can fly through the sun, cable still has a human body.
Cable might have molecular conversion but on a cosmic level? I wouldnt think so..
BTW in the X-man comics it says that Nate Grey has more raw potential than Cable even without the virus.....
No. It doesn't. I HAVE all the X-Man and Cable comics. It states they have the EXACT same raw potential and mutant power. Read Cable#29 or #31 which is Cable vs. X-Man it explains their relationship. Both characters were created by Sinister to be the ultimate mutant weapon the only thing that separates them is age and the techno-organic virus. ( Not to mention Jean Grey/Madelyne but that gets too complicated ) Besides Cable didn't even lose the virus until well after Nate Grey was dead so how would that be stated as a comic fact? Cable was never able to reach his " full " potential.
It says that Nate Grey exhibits all Cable's psionic and telekenetic potential and then some. It does say "unchecked by his techno organic virus" but it clearly says "potential" ... I can see the case for him being unsure of just exactly what he was capable of but then again we never saw Grey at full potential. His powers were so extreme that they were destroying him. Cable and X-man are not exactly the same and they are from different realities.
Its not like Stryfe and cable.
Sinister was a geneticist who was able to augement Grey's powers. Thats how come the powers were killing him, they were made to be so strong that they would kill him.
Cable was not created that way, Sinister didnt do that with him. He was conceived through normal conception.
cable was the son of scott summers and the clone of jean grey. He was brought up in the future by jean and scott who had entered other bodies in the future to raise cable for a few years.
Nate was created using genetic material from jean and scott in an alternate timeline, rather that a future timeline.
Stryfe was cloned from cable in the future timeline.
So although they have almost identical genetic profiles (although cable's has the TO virus), they were created in very different ways.
