But I see what you were trying to say.

I think you have that backwords...well at least the Doc Ock I saw in the movie. Didnt the tentacles control his mind, not him controlling them. And then at the end he finally fights it and controls them to save the city from blowing up...........

Well, the comics count so you CAN'T go by the movies.Doc Ock doesn't have it backwards, you do.Although I did like how the tentacles controlled him.Anyway,he controlled the tentacles in the comics and it doesn't matter if you say it was a different way in the movies because the comics are where ALL fo the facts are at and you can NEVER go against the comics....NEVER.

You're the one who has it backwards. It's obvious you've never read a Spider-Man comic.

Don't confuse Raimi's version of the characters with the real thing.

Doc Ock of the comics is completely in control of the tentacles.100%.

it's like they completely reversed Doc Ock's character in SP2. BUT they did get one ling correct in the SP2 movie about Ock when he said "...so i maintain control of the arms, instead of them controlling me..."

Except when Spider-Man sabotaged them in the story where Captain Stacy died.
This is an important distinction: regardless of the fact that there was indeed a casualty when he did this, Spider-Man's inclination is to foil Dr. Octopus by making him lose control over his tentacles, not by returning control to him, and that's how it should play out in a Spider-Man movie. Period.

I don't think they completely changed the character but either way it I think it was cool.

in the comics Ock is evil, in the movie he is a geuinely nice caring person, that also has morals towards science. I can say they completely change his personality.
-But Doc Ock, you know most about Ock, is he completely changed in the movie? lol

Pretty much.

His personality as Octavius pre-accident was much different to the arrogant, cold, sociopathic Octavius of the comics.Telling Peter to feed MJ poetry is something that would never cross Octavius' mind in a million years.

Ock wouldn't know anything about romancing women. He can charm them, fool them and use them. But to know the secrets of a meaningful relationship?? Never. He's too self absorbed.

When he was being evil in the movie he was spot on.Great villain. But the bit at the end where he turned good was disgraceful.Again Ock would never ever do that.

And of course we all know why.Because Ock is evil in the comics because he wants to be.Not because there is A.I. warping his mind.

So yeah he was quite different from the comics. But not when he was being bad. When he was being evil he was awesome.Molina did a great job.

you think they will change the SP3 villains personalities and stuff?

Hopefully they won't.

What about the way they did the look of the tentacles? That was great too,to me at least. Also,if Doc Ock returns(which is doubtful),I'd want him to be completely in control of his tentacles and he should also be COMPLETELY evil.

it is definately doubtful he will not return, he sank to the bottom of the river

I know but I was thinking they could have him return and in that same movie they could form the Insidious Six as well.

It's the Sinister Six. I'm guessing your wealth of knowledge comes from the cartoon of the 90's.

And Movie!Ock was almost "completely changed" from Dr. Octopus of the comics. That's not up for debate. His personality is barely anything close to the real Dr. Octopus. His motives couldn't be further from what they're supposed to be, his social inclinations are completely inverted, and his will-power was nothing like the real Dr. Octopus'.

You've been following this thread for a while now; a thread in which a Dr. Octopus expert has been spewing facts left and right. I think it's time to "get it," rather than maintain the delusion that the movie was at all similar to the comics in terms of plot and characterization.

Sinister Six,Insidious Six,you know what I mean. 😛

That is exactly correct: it is definitely doubtful that he WILL NOT return 🙂

...because he could definitely be back! The door is wide open. If Norman Osborn has already been shown again, you think we could not see Ock? Hell, *Raimi* even says he is still alive.

I dunno why some people here find all this about Ock so hard to believe. You're talking to people with extensive comics knowledge of these characters. Comics knowledge, not Saturday-morning-cartoon knowledge. The real deal.

If Doc Ock here tells you something about Ock the character, he knows what he's talking about. AFAIK he has almost all Ock's appearances in the books... Ock in the comics has "died" more than once. He has the proverbial nine lives... HE ALWAYS RETURNS.

And if we ever see the Six onscreen, you can bet your bottom dollar Ock will be leading the charge, because the Six have only one real leader and he is it.

Not being ugly at all, but maybe you guys should try actually reading some of these older books. They are most interesting reading, and they answer these type of questions for you right off the bat.

it is doubtful he will not return in the movie, people wouldnt get it: "i thought he died...what the hell?". I for one have knowledge of the movies/animated series, and a fair amount of knowledge from the comics old and new. I know they characters are ressurected and stuff.

-so Raimi said "Doc Ock did not die when he sank to the bottom of the river..."
-with all seriousness, did he also say "Norman Osborn did not die, when he got impaled by his gilder..."

Thanks for the kind words Sym 🙂

I don't recall Raimi saying Norman was still alive. But it is possible.I mean he survived from the very same injury in the comics too.Accelerated healing due to the Goblin formula.

I would love to see Ock return,in complete control of the tentacles,in some future movie.

Heck I'll even settle for a cameo in SM-3.We need to see at least one exciting villain after the meh revelation of Sandman.

And if Gopher is Venom then the movie is doomed.

Symbiotica may smack me for this, but I think Mysterio is a more interesting villain.
