Villain For Spider-Man 3?

Ok heres how it is.First we're going to talk common sense then we'll we get to speculation/rumours/suspicions.

The fact is Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire both said in Wizard magazine that the next villain they would like to do is Sandman.

Thomas Haden Church looks alot like Sandman.Just as much as Alfred Molina does for Doc Ock.

Sandman can provide big fight scenes.The Chameleon cannot.Sandman is unique and very different from Green Goblin and Doc Ock.Different is good.The main villain has to be different to the previous two otherwise audiences will not be as interested.

TheFilmProphet you argued Chameleon will provide personal troubles while the other villain will provide the action.
There is only one guy who is going to provide the personal problems to Peter and that's Harry.Thomas Church's villain will provide the action etc.Harry is going to be the personal antagonist.Not the Chameleon disguised as some college professor.

How visually stunning would the Chameleon be??? How about not at all.But if we get Sandman and Harry becoming a Goblin then you get instant success.

Now that's the common sense part done.Let's talk rumours/speculation.

See I can dig up rumours too.All speculation.But the Sandman theorey has two things going for it.

1.Raimi and Maguire like and want Sandman.
2.Church looks like Sandman.

Well that is a very good debate, so its could be sandman and harry is part 3. That would be good as long as the lizard is in part 4. I'll be happy. 🙂

I still don't see Harry being a villain in part 3...especially if Topher is going to play a villain.

As for Topher, I can't see anybody but Mysterio. Now, I know that might not be likely, but hey, it could happen. Mysterio and Sandman is an odd team, but they don't have to team up, they can be working solo, just at the same time - unfortunately for Spider-Man lol

If they do Mysterio, he can be used as the emotional tear-between character. HOWEVER, I don't want to see Mary Jane upset about Peter and telling him off. I'm getting tired of Parker being a little pussy. He needs to flip out.

What I'd love to see, is Mysterio casting an illusion of Mary Jane doing something, and having PETER flip out, casting MJ aside. Then he can become a very upset Spider-Man, and instead of doing what he did in 1 and 2 - complain...he'll be a ferocious type of guy. He'll take petty villains down in a second and ruthlessly. No tricks, he'll web them up, throw them onto a building or something and then question them screaming and whatnot.

Time for Peter to get an attitude adjustment and be a man instead of the little wuss he is now.

Just so you know it is not confirmed Topher is a villain.

And if Harry does not become a Goblin in SM-3 then the events with him in SM-2 were pointless.

And we all KNOW they were not pointless.

Oh I thought it was confirmed. Still...who else is he gonna play? Not many allies that I know of that would look like him.

I just don't see Harry as GG2 (especially not Hobgoblin, idk where people are getting those ideas) because as you stated before, if its not anything new, its boring. GG2 is nothing different than GG1, cept a different character, but little kids aren't gonna know that, and people that dont' know much about Spider-Man aren't gonna be able to decipher the voices and whatnot.

I think we need 2 brand new villains so the public can stay interested.

If Magneto can return in the very NEXT sequal to X-Men then Harry as GG2 or Hobby can work too in Spider-Man 3.

um speaking about little kids not knowing its a different person my 3 yr old brother when he saw the movie he said that he hope harry is the next green goblin.little kids want harry to turn bad and so do i and alot of other people.people say hobgoblin just for variety.it might be even better to do him as hobgoblin so we can see a different villain.make the hobgoblin stronger or something like harry upgrades the outfit.
and speaking on what you said about lizard for Spiderman 4 i hope so too.I would like them to do 6 of them with a kind of 2 different sagas.
the first one - Goblin saga or Osborn
the second one - Venom or symbiote saga
they have to make harry a goblin it would suck if they didnt.all the stuff in Spiderman 2 and in 1 him swearing on his dad's grave that spiderman would pay.It just would be stupid for him not to.
Here is how Harry's character has been brought to us.
Spiderman - Peter's friend and at the end he hates Spiderman
Spiderman 2 - He sort of hires dock ock to get Spiderman sort of sending a villain to do something.He also finds the goblin stuff.
Spiderman 3 - He will become one of the goblins.

I would continue debating the issue of the villains with you but like I said, I stopped once you started resorting to less than appropriate acts. It seems what you want is attention and I won't be giving you any anymore...

Well of course some kids are smart enough to know, but think about the general population: we're filled with idiots lol.

When I went to see The Hulk, there were two kids behind me, so I started talking to them cause, you know, they'll remember talking to an older kid in the movies by themselves when they're older. Anyway, the one was like "He's Bruce" and the other goes "The Hulk is Bruce Wayne? Batman is The Hulk?" that sort of stupid kid is what I'm talking about lol.

As for Magneto working, well, its X-Men, he's the main villain and he wasn't even used as the "main adversary" in X2. In fact, he wasn't a villain it at all. The newcomers for that film were Pyro, Deathstrike, Stryker, Nightcrawler...if they make it just like Sandman and Green Goblin, that's basically just like Sandman.

As for where to take Harry's character then, I think it would be a lot cooler to have him seek psychological help. There could be scenes where he snaps out and says something about killing Peter, then stops himself. He could start seeing a psychiatrist - Ned Leeds if I'm not mistaken. Then we can have it so at the end, that psychologist (or psychiatrist, I forget which one Hobby was) makes something of a point that Harry might be right in his quest to become the Green Goblin. He can say something like "why don't you bring me some of this, equipment, you've been talking about. Then we can start to figure this out..."

That could allude to Harry not being torn anymore, because a medical supervisor told him he's right, but ALSO it could allude to Hobgoblin in the future. Harry could still be a large character with these scenes, and could still provide lots of interesting scene-work. Peter visiting him at a mental institution would be a great scene, as would be what his Oscorp execs want to do to cover it up and so forth.

The only major new comer to SM-2 was Doc Ock and he was fine.

So if Sandman is the only major newcomer to SM-3 I bet that will work too.Raimi will MAKE it work.

It was a loooong time since I have posted here...and I have seen nothing but Doc Ock making a point!

I'm gonna laugh so much if none of these villains are in the movie....and it ends up being someone completely different....

I agree with chameleon not providing the action....so it looks like we have conflicting sources so i guess the only way we can know is when something official is released.....>_<

Yeah that'd be hilarious. We're all debating basically on Sandman, Chameleon, Mysterio, a few people with Electro, and Venom.

Marvel announces "I'm very pleased to say that our villains for Spider-Man 3 are none other than the fan favorites.....Smythe and Beetle!!!....Hello?...H....Hello?"

Anyone who's pushing for Venom or the Chameleon needs to actually read a Spider-Man comic and get a clue.

Chameleon isn't exactly a big show stopper.

Venom is though, and a fan favorite.
