Sorry this is sorta off topic. I am a NY Yankee fan (go ahead and flame me) and I have to say I'm impressed with the Red Socks this year. My grandmother was a die hard Red Socks fan and she never got to see them go all the way and she'll probably be dieing within the next year, so on one hand if they win I can be happy for her, but on the other it's going to suck not being able to chant 1918 at the games anymore.
But, if the Red Socks do win, I'm not going to be one of those fans who are like "they suck anyways they so cheated!" I'll give them due credit and move on. But I have to say, if they do win, what about the next season? They won't be 'cursed' anymore, and America won't be backing them as much, because they no longer have a great goal like breaking a 86 year losing streak. I know personally as a NY Rangers fan after they won the cup in 94 my dad was sort of let down with the next season because they no longer were the great underdogs.
they arnt the underdogs now though, NY was the underdog and STL is the underdog in the WS they usually are good enough they just choke. Red SOx nation is pretty powerfull and they sell out home games so easy and i dont think they will lose their fan base. Random other people who think they deserve to win once prolly wont care anymore, but they will still have a ton of fans.
Yeah they do have a ton of genuine fans and I didn't mean they are the underdogs as far as talent goes. I knew the Yankees were in a way the underdog seeing that they really can't compare to Boston's pitching, which is really important. I meant they are view as an underdog along with the Cubs because they have a hell of a losing streak going on as far as not having completely successful seasons. Once they break the 'curse' they are taking away some of the mystic there is about the Boston Red Socks, and in a way some of the appeal.
A lot of people jump on the bandwagon and hate NY and love the Red socks just for the hell of it, just like a lot of people jump on the bandwagon and like NY just because they have the most world series victories. True Red Socks/Yankees fans can tell you something about the team. They can tell you who is pitching tonight, who has the best batting average. I live in Florida, and last year I had all sorts of bandwagon Marlins fans telling me how much the Yankees sucked (once the marlins defeated Chicago, before that I didn't hear a peep). Yet before the playoffs started, me my dad and a neighbor went down to Miami and saw the Marlins clinch the wildcard against Philly, and there was hardly anybody there. I think the number was somewhere around 21 thousand. Sorry to get off topic, but my point is I'm seeing the same thing this year in my school. People come up to me like "haha boston beat ny" when they never said anything about Boston before that and if I ask them who their favorite pitcher from the team is they can't even name one.
But to be quite honest, I think that Boston deserves it more than St Louis. I hate both teams and I hate the Red Socks a lot more, but to me it just seems like they are working harder for it than the cardinals.
I'm still going to like the Red Sox cause i hate the Yankees... i'm not one of the people that like a team for no reason and no nothing about the team... if i like a team i know basically every player... I no every player on the Red Sox... Phillies and Reds.... i no every player on a lot of the teams... now the Cubs on the other hand, i want them to win one cause of the "curse".... but then after that i won't care that much..
Wow the Red Sox are up 2-0... i think the Cardinals are gonna win two at home and then the Red Sox will win one at St. Louis and then win it in Boston... i know its not gonna be a sweep... and i don't thnk the Sox will win it in five... i think its going 6 or 7.. with the Red Sox winning

I agree with most of what you've said. But I don't think that the Red Sox are working any harder than the Cardinals. Both teams have done a great job this year, i'm sure none of us will argue with that. They have both worked extremely hard to get to where their at. When you look at history, one could say the Red Sox deserve it more. But when you look at the 2004 season, both teams deserve it equally.
I say this as a non-red sox fan, and a non-cardinals fan. My team from the National League is the Braves, my team from the American League is the Orioles. I am a fan of the sport. Many people are fans of players. For instance...I really like Curt Schilling and Orlando Cabrera. I watched Cabrera come up as an Expo in 1997. He has always played hard. I was happy for him when he went to the Sox. They are the main two reasons I am pulling for the Red Sox this year. If the Red Sox win, that will be awesome. If the Cardinals win, I will be equally happy because they proved this season they deserve it.
I hope that makes sense lol. It's hard to type out things I think sometimes. I think all of us can tell the bandwagoners apart from the actual fans. Which is why I like this thread...first thread I've come across with some real baseball fans...
Yeh. I don't see how in the world the Cardinals can win 4 straight. Stupid Kevin Kennedy thinks "if any team can come back from an 0-3 deficit, it's the Cardinals"...completely disagree
Not only cause the Red Sox made history by doing it against the Yankees, and the fact that it happening twice in one year is un-heard of. The Red Sox are just too good. Excluding Game 1, the Sox pitching has man handled the Cardinals.
