Yes, EU is not just a vague term we use- it is an offical title for a line of products, which the various released books are part of but the novels are not. As I say in the canon thread, EU and non-canon do not mean the same thing, though it so happens that EU is not canon.
The definition of what falls into that line is any story not derived from one of GL's films.

"What I was saying is that what someone believes should not just be thrown aside because it is important to that person, it's an insult to the person to be shot down because they believe something that is contrary to a popular belief. And excuse me, but it is my opinion that the novelisations of the movies are EU because we don't see the same things in the film. We can't tell what the characters are thinking at any particular moment because we're not some omnipotent author. And isn't opinion what this forum is about? Everyone's opinion about a given topic with the right to say what they believe? Calling my beliefs irrelevant is completely contrary to the nature of this forum."
I don't care if it is important to you- it is WRONG. The subject is not a matter of opinion, it is a matter of fact, and so if you state it wrongly, then damn right it gets thrown aside as it deserves. So what you consider erroneously to be fact is totally irrelevant, and I don't give a stuff whether you believe it or not- it is not true, you are wrong to say it, no matter how much you believe it it will not become true, all you are is totally wrong. The novels are not part of the Expanded Universe line and that is all there is to it.
So opinion on things that are open to interpretation, yes. But opinion that differs from facts? No, they will be exposed and rejected. If you do not like that, feel free to not come here any more- and I am sorry that the truth hurts.
I will repeat to everyone, the lowdown on EU is clearly posted on a noted thread in each SW area. Read it, carefully, and this sort of argument will be avoided in future. But just to make this point absolutely clear:
The novels are not part of the Expanded Universe.
And that is direct from Lucasfilm. Thankyou.
