I dont think Lucas's goal is to make things confusing and throw us off to less obvious theories. Dooku definitely had the ability to do so, since he was an apprentice of Yoda at one point and only jedis can change the archives.

"EU refers to the stories that other people write and they just have to run the general idea by GL being that theyre using his title. i.e the story where Luke joins the darkside and then comes back to the lightside."

exactly my point.

get of the EU subject, no one will ever completley agree. you can have your own opinoin and realize to yourself that you may be right, but this seems like a very repetitive argument.

Actually dad, we were explaining the difference between EU and the acceptable star wars facts. Theres nothing to disagree on, as far as "what is EU", Its either EU or not...theres nothing that sort of is but sort of isnt.

If it wasn't in the movie you saw, then its EU. Simple.

Dooku is responsible. Lucas isn't going to pick up that little plot line, probably because he thought people could just work that out for themselves.........

A Jedi master leaves the order and joins the opposition and later a critical tidbit of info is missing from the archives. Then you find out he's working with the evil mastermind.........

Dooku is responsible but I'm still sticking to my guns on this one. Dooku had Jocasta erase the archives. If Jocasta is so anal about the accuracies of the archives don't you think she would have realized that someone had altered them? Look its simple, in the galaxy far far away the technology is so far more advanced than ours. There would have to be some kind of security system in place to safeguard against such a thing. Jedi come and go but the archives were written from the beginning.

so is the jedi archives the only place you can look up planets and systems on the entire of Coruscant??

Perhaps, probably not. Its probibly the most well guarded and accurate, thus jocastas coment "If its not in the archives, it doesn't exist"

I was saying it since I seen the movie and on this thread back a few pages, it was Dooku. It make sense.

I think that Jokasta Nu erased the archive for Kamino. I believe we will find out in ROTS that she was working with Sifodias when the clones were originally ordered.

Yeah, I'm sure Sidious is her lover! 💃

only because it states that it is EU on the cover? that would mean EXPANDED Universe is a registered name then. if somebody rights a novel in the form of a movie, theyre expanding on that story. in the SW world, the writers of the novels are expanding on the SW universe= EXPANDED UNIVERSE. unless what your'e saying is that EU is a registered name like i asked before, then that would make sense.

Yes, EU is not just a vague term we use- it is an offical title for a line of products, which the various released books are part of but the novels are not. As I say in the canon thread, EU and non-canon do not mean the same thing, though it so happens that EU is not canon.

The definition of what falls into that line is any story not derived from one of GL's films.

"What I was saying is that what someone believes should not just be thrown aside because it is important to that person, it's an insult to the person to be shot down because they believe something that is contrary to a popular belief. And excuse me, but it is my opinion that the novelisations of the movies are EU because we don't see the same things in the film. We can't tell what the characters are thinking at any particular moment because we're not some omnipotent author. And isn't opinion what this forum is about? Everyone's opinion about a given topic with the right to say what they believe? Calling my beliefs irrelevant is completely contrary to the nature of this forum."

I don't care if it is important to you- it is WRONG. The subject is not a matter of opinion, it is a matter of fact, and so if you state it wrongly, then damn right it gets thrown aside as it deserves. So what you consider erroneously to be fact is totally irrelevant, and I don't give a stuff whether you believe it or not- it is not true, you are wrong to say it, no matter how much you believe it it will not become true, all you are is totally wrong. The novels are not part of the Expanded Universe line and that is all there is to it.

So opinion on things that are open to interpretation, yes. But opinion that differs from facts? No, they will be exposed and rejected. If you do not like that, feel free to not come here any more- and I am sorry that the truth hurts.

I will repeat to everyone, the lowdown on EU is clearly posted on a noted thread in each SW area. Read it, carefully, and this sort of argument will be avoided in future. But just to make this point absolutely clear:

The novels are not part of the Expanded Universe.

And that is direct from Lucasfilm. Thankyou.

God it's a wonder that anyone new comes to this site because they get crapped on as soon as they do something that one person disagrees with which causes everyone to come down on the one person. How can you call this a community if we get pissed at each other for every little thing? I stated my opinion and look what happened?

Ush, you jumped all over me and I wasn't even looking to start an argument. I read posts and I feel sorry for some people because for any little thing they do they get dissed so badly. Is this how you welcome people to your site? If it is then I hate to see how you turn them away. Go ahead, tell me I'm wrong now.

Maybe a newcomer to this site doesn't know everything or doesn't know "the rules" (aka, how to conform to what everyone else believes), but is that any reason to chew them out and crap on them? What is wrong with this place? I joined because my friends said this place was a fun forum and a good place to talk about movies but now I come in and I see that it's a good place to be bashed. Who wants to join a community and be run out of it? Like I said, it's a wonder you get any new members.

I'll say it.... You are wrong. I don't know if you realize it or not but Ush is a Mod. Mods make the rules. Mods are supposed to keep things running smoothly. When you do not know the difference between EU and Cannon you throw a wrench in the discussion. Trying to incorporate Eu int Cannon can only lead to arguments. You are free to believe what you want in these forums but you have to understand that opinions can not be injected into a factual discussion when the content of that discussion is proved to be fact fact. opinions can not change the facts.

Yeah I knew, and I'm glad that someone can disagree with me and NOT bash me entirely.

I've got it. It was qui gon!!
Why else would he have been in the trailer.
Read the thread in the ep1/2 forum about quigon being a sith spy.

NO NO NO! Qwi Gon was not corrupt. He will even make an apearance to Yoda in ROTS.

Arthas, the policy and facts are both made clear in noted threads, as I already said. People who do not take the simple courtesy to read those threads are not going to find themselves in the best of situations. However, fact is we clearly have lots of members here, and it was only your continual attempts to incorrectly state things contrary to the policy of this area that caused a big deal here. If you had just observed and accepted the facts there would have neen no problem. Anyone who does not want to do that, this place can do without.

Well, it was more the fact that I felt it was unpolitely brought to my attention that I was wrong. Telling me what I thought was irreleveant just pushed all the wrong buttons, you know? All I asked for was a little courtesy and I really just dislike all the animosity towards all the noobs when they post things that someone else has but that they may have missed when they searched. It was never my intent to cause a huge dispute here, but when I get into an argument I tend to dislike backing down.

I'm just saying that the way I was told I was wrong was what set me off, not the mere fact that I was told I was wrong.

Ok first of all the EU are the novels. go to starwars.com, the data bank, anyone from novels are in the EU part. That solves that.
