someone might think they're straight, try it and hate it

1) Genetic

and/or

2) Because of opportunity/lack thereof.

and/or

3) Upbringing

Mix those, cut and paste em, I think any combination applies to sexuality here.

I mean, you could be brought up to be straight, genetically masculine/feminine and still end up being gay if you are put into a certain context. Even the slightest of urges could cause a full blown sexuality rotation given the appropriate opportunities.

I don't think anyone is "destined" to be gay, bi or straight, but I do think genetics has a part to play. I think genes affect how we interpret sexuality, and our upbringing forges our sexuality, while our circumstances focus our sexuality.

I mean, imagine if a kid has no contact with many girls all his life. He mainly knows boys and has many male friends. He sees girls as quite different, possibly, and acts less naturally around them. That could be one situation where circumstance causes a boy to be gay, even if they did feel slight genetic urges towards the opposite sex, they still chose to be gay because they know a same-sex person even better. Sexuality also depends on how honest and mature a person is with themselves I think. I mean, there's loads of macho guys with something to prove, only to not have the maturity (or are very fearful) of being gay that they force themselves to be straight. It's wierd stuff, but there ya go.

in fact catholic countries such as Argentina, Chile, Peru, dont have sodomy laws 😬 so nobody really agrees with the bible in that paragraph i guess

I think your personality, including sexuality is mostly created from experiences. Say a girl get concious of her breasts around the start of puberty, she may transfer this interest to other girls, and a desire emerges.

i think is genetic...the enviroment still mattes thoguh

I'm on the fence in this now, leaning toward genetics. Anyone want to provide particularly daming proof (wow, liek omg 3 p-words) that will swing me in either direction? Because I haven't seen anything worthwhile in this thread in quite some time.

Well from first hand experience I know that it is genetic .But you find out later in life that you are.
