I will admit, I only listened to some of their songs. It mgiht have been teh wrong songs to listen to, but they still weren't that great. This is a message board and as you guys say, I can voice my opinion. If I get the third degree for it, I don't give a shit. Sorry if I 'offended' anyone about the Bad Religion remark, I shouldn't have even said that...I was very messed up at the time. How many times must I say that Simple Plan is not pop. All those pop songs have no instrumental parts whatsoever! It's all about the damn singer and that's not what Simple Plan is. Simple Plan is a band that plays instruments, whether you think it's good or bad whatever...but they are much much different from pop. If you guys think that lyrics arent' very deep....so be it, but they've helped me through some tough times. Go ahead, I know you want to criticize me for that too. You criticize me for everything else I say, so go ahead and have a ****ing hayday! It's pretty bad when you can't even state your opionion on a message board without getting yelled at for it.
Maybe so, but they use a different approach to it, and not all of their songs are about the pop crap. Ok, I want to see what you guys think of some of these whatever the hell you want to call 'em bands. Good Charlotte? Sum 41? Green Day? Billy Talent? The Darkness? The Killers? Story of the Year? The Used? Gob? I'll add some more later. I jst want to see where all of you SP haters and fans are coming from!!! Thanks a bunch!
Hey if you like simple plan I don't have a problem with it but you should accept that they are pop artists. Not playing an instrument isn't what differs pop form the rest of music... pop is basically mainstream popular music.. whatever is big at the time. Sorry if you don't like it but that's what simple plan is. If you really want to get technical about it then call them pop rock.. doesn't really make a difference. My point isn't that simple plan sucks but that you insulted pop music like britney spears and shit like that even though simple plan could be placed in basically the same category.
Well Greeday was good, I liked Dookie. I dont like much of thier new stuff though. The Darkness are alright, I havent heard too many songs, but I like "I Believe in a thing called love". Story of the Year suck whale nuts. The Used Follow in thier footsteps. The Killers Have one catchy song but get annoying after a while. Sum 41 suck. Good Charlotte may be one of the worst bands ever, truely not worthy of life. And I've never heard any Billy Talent or Gob.
Thanks for the opinion Slipknot. Afrocheese, so music that is popular is considered pop music? That makes no sense. Tons of different artists are 'popular' right now, but they aren't considered 'pop' music. Different country musicians are popular right now with people that like country music and I'm pretty sure they are considered country...not pop. Slipknot is popular up here in Canada at the moment, well in Alberta anyways...would you classify them as pop? I don't think so. Be a little more specific the next time you write something like that.

And about pop music--while Slipknot are a popular band, they aren't pop because they don't have a pop sound. Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, New Found Glory, Green Day, etc, are pop rock, because their music fits into that category. Yes, there is a genre called pop rock, and yes, it is a pop subgenre. You could also call it a rock subgenre, but it is nevertheless pop as well. Slipknot, on the other hand, play metal. So you see, it is the music that makes a band "pop" or something else. 🙂
What do you think pop music stands for? I didn't make that up.. pop is short for popular music. The definition has been warped over the years to mean britney spears bubble gum crap but that was the original meaning. Frank Sinatura was pop at one time. Simple Plan are not only popular... they have all the basic elements of pop music. Simple lyrics that are usually about relationships, all of the musical focus is on the vocals instead of the instruments, and their fan base contains a large number of teenage girls. But if you insist they aren't pop or at least pop rock, what would you call them?
