Indeed. But then again, Magellan level is possibly still better than Luffy(Magellan all but one-shot the Blackbeard pirates when he caught them off guard, which is pretty awesome). But yeah, Smoker has fallen from whatever little grace he had before. He doesn't seem to have gotten better at all.

Well he wasn't a huge threat in part 1...mostly because he was never used. Alabasta was the only time that Tashigi and Smoker really played a role in the story, aside from the occassional glimpse at what they're doing and the role they played at Marineford(very little). But certainly better than Luffy.

Now though yeah, he and Tashigi show little improvement compared to the Straw Hats(though admittedly Tashigi has come a LONG way from being as crappy as she was in part 1). It's a shame they were the Worfs for Law, who was a near unknown really and didn't really show off anything that I can't imagine him doing in part 1.

Question: Why didn't Law ask Luffy about forming an Alliance before?

We got some shenanigans concerning Luffy fighting Smoker/Tashigi but nothing really comes out of it. Still funny and it's cool to see those two FINALLY getting a scrap of attention. It's not great but I'll take it.

And then the Slimeballs start showing up in abundance and Smoker's men, being brilliant, just set it on fire. They get blown up for this of course.

Chapter ends with Caesar ending up on the battlefield. He starts to preach something stupid and Luffy appears to just grab him. Not too impressive there Caesar.

This villain is hampering the arc. I hate Caesar.

I'm surprised at how easily Luffy can touch logias right now, I kind of expected it to be a less consistent way of keeping contact.

Has Tashigi ever battled without getting her _ss handed to her?

Or maybe Caesar just can't go Logia at will.

BUT, his alliance with Luffy is looking to be awesome. So...excited for that!

I only know Law from his last few seconds PT. My thoughts were 'Cool hat bro'.

Now he's a favorite.

The best Nova by the way is Hawkins. Beats up Brownbeard and doesn't afraid of anything.

X Drake may well be in my top 4. Need to sort out my feelings on the others. I know that he is NemeBro's favorite Nova though(or was...it might be Law now for all I know but I doubt it).

My top 2 would be Hawkins and Scratchmen. After that is Drake and Urouge(needs some love).

We didn't really see enough Urouge for me to have much opinion on him.

Scratchman is pretty cool.

He was man enough to go to the scariest island in the New World.

I like how nobody gives a shit about Alcapone and Bonney.

Yea, they're neither strong nor have particularly cool personalities.

I do like Capone's power, and Bonney was clever in her handling of the Celestial dragon, but Bonney'd fit better in the crew of a stronger pirate (like maybe Big Mom), and Capone's power of carrying a crew around only goes so far.

On the flip side, you have an Ex-Navy Rear Admiral Dinosaur Pirate, Kidd's bloodthirstiness and magnetism, Law's cool hax power and unclear motives that clearly have brains behind them.... so much cool.

We also leave out Killer, I'll note. He's got blades, a mask, and doesn't talk. Also pretty boring.
