I'm not sure Luffy cares enough about Ace to do that. I mean, everything Ace loved in life was freedom and he kind of DID choose to die. Everybody dies, no need to get all ruffled.

Bah, I still glad he's gone, but I'd be a liar if I didn't say that this issue was a hell of a tearjerker.

But seriously, just how ****ing tanky is Akainu? A shichibukai basically admitting he's gonna get crushed simply trying to slow him down?

To me, this whole arc served the bigger goal of establishing Vista as a character, I mean, Jozu and Marco I couldn't care less about, but Vista is as cool as they get (mustache ftw!).

By the way, I just realized that they might use the Nine Super-novas to oppose the Strawhats during the fishman arc. Their numbers are exactly those of the SHs crew and some of the weak ones are evidently too weak to have their own arc.

As I see it: Bonny against Nami, Capone against Ussop, Killer against Brook, Traflagar against Zoro and Drake against Sanji are among the upcoming matchups.

Brilliant idea for an arc, but I think the match ups would probably play out somethig like:

Zoro Vs Killer: Both blade-wielders, and the only two non-captains in the bunch.
Usopp Vs Capone: You're right on the money here, I can just see Usopps "I have an army of 8 million men with me!" getting turned around beautifully.
Law: I Think Robin's ability would make her a better match up against his devil powers personally.
Drake: BAdass shapeshifter= Chopper's opponent, and it will be EPIC
Urouge: This is Sanji's man.
Scratchman:Bizarre individual with weird unique powers? Franky's got this shit.
Basil Hawkins : Mystic strawman Vs walking Skeleton. Psyched.
Bonney: You're right here as well, though I'm guessing this fight will serve as mostly fan services for the Loli fans out there, as Nami will become a child.
Eustass: Highest bounty= Luffy's man.

I think that Basil vs Robin is going to be something like magic vs science/future vs history kind of combat. He's also somewhat feminine in appearance so there is that.

Since Law got the most screen time during the Shambody Archipielago and is a swordsman I imagined that he would get Zoro, but yeah, it could be killer instead.

Anyways, I think its going to be a funny arc, although I still don't imagine how they will be pitied against one another.

Perhaps they all meet their respective foes while on the way to Fishman island/ the shambody Archiepelago, because I assume they'd all head there in an attempt to reunite.

That could be the case, it would certainly solve the "how are we making them fight different opponents enigma". However it would be tricky for Killer and Kidd who are in the same boat.

This chapter was pure awesomeness.

The scene where Whitebeard loomed over Akainu.....**** me, I was cheering. I hope he's dead. Flamingo was concentrated pimp, as always and it appears we're gonna see what the Blackbeard pirates can do.

this chapter ROCKED!!...

i'm really liking the way Oda has done the last couple of chapters, despite a major character's death, the action never really stopped, and he's done it in a pretty seamless fashion, making me feel sad for Ace yet delighted with the action, and making me feel excited for next issue...

and if it's true that Smoker gets promoted to Admiral, then that would be as/even more awesome than Buggy being Yonkou...

The promotion isn't really a spoiler, just wishful thinking on my part since Akainu might be slightly,uh, dead and Smoker's the best option if that's the case.

Smoker has never shown to be near Admiral strength, dunno why he would be picked. Garp seems the better candidate.

Garp just let a pirate steamroll him and free the most important prisoner since Roger. He then proceeded to threaten an Admiral for killing that prisoner.

Horrible choice for an Admiral.

Smoker was able to beatdown Luffy in every encounter they've had and stalemate Ace, with Luffy stating he's gotten even stronger since then. He took a cheapshot from the Shichibukai who's style is designed to ass rape Logia users and proceeded to not get KTFO during the following fight.

He'd be the weakest Admiral and Garp may be stronger, but bullshit he's the better choice of the two

Garp had a single moment of weakness, he was unable to kill his own sons.

Compared to the rest of his impressive and decorated Naval career, it does not really matter.

He let the son of Roger escape. Huge deal.

If he let Luffy steamroll him once, what's to stop him from letting it happen again?

He's been severely compromised.

Yeah, Garp gave in to his emotions and disobeyed direct orders from his superior.

Killer's not a bad contender for admiral, but Garp was indeed the better choice. Too bad Garp made the wrong decision.
