Hodi's kinda interesting in that his goals are more indiscriminant than Arlong's, yet his origin is more sympathic. He didn't start as a bloodthirsty pirate.
Arlong was a dickhead, always was, to be sure, but at least he never, even after falling as far as he could, would never harm a Fishman. Hell, even back then, he commented that Jinbe was being a little too brutal towards humans they fought.
While Hodi did seem visibly affected by Otohime's death, Arlong was similarly affected by the death of Fisher Tiger.
But meh, opinions.

What makes you think current Luffy is so superior to him?Jimbei completely and utterly outclassed him before the timeskip, being noticeably superior, and what makes you think Jimbei himself has not gotten stronger?
Luffy just learned everything Raleigh had to teach him and then some, I don't think Jimbei will go down like a chump, but let's remember the guy had a hard time beating Weaksauce Ace.

IIRC Jimbei did not have water around him either.

So what's your argument? That Ace was so weak he hadn't learned to use logia intangibility? Because if Jimbei had no water nor haki he wouldn't be able to hurt Ace at all.
Jimbei would be even weaker according to you 131

I just got done reading this chapter and I have to ask, how did Zoro get caught, when he was one-shotting fishmen underwater a few chapters back?I'm pretty sure Luffy didn't learn everything during the time-skip, Otherwise he'd be Shanks 2.0 right now. My money's on Jimbei until the next chapter.
I don't think Luffy is going to plow through any battle from here on, but Jimbei ain't no Shanks. Also, Luffy needs to win this battle to move against Hodi, at worse, Jimbei will beat L using a plot device -likely water- and then he'll get pummeled by Hodi with L winning everything at the end. One way or another, Luffy is like stronger than Jimbei by now.
