Van Helsing

i am going to see it today,i think it will be AWSOME! but not everyone may like things like that! no offence, but i think it will rule!

im cing it on thursday with JDG and Kazzie

a good idea gone very very wrong. What a bad movie. where was the dialogue? I mean i can look past the fact that there was no story what so ever but there was hardly any dialogue. No to mention in cosistant action

Okay...I don't usually come on here and speak of movies...but after viewing Van Helsing I just couldn't resist !!!

What a absolute flop of a movie !

First and foremost...in the first 5 minutes

Spoiler:
what was with Mr. Hyde ??? I thought I had stumbled into League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
and it only got worse after that. Wolfman and Frankenstein looked liked they should have...but what was with Count Dracula ??? Did we really need a vampire with a pony tail ??? This seemed all too much like League of Extraordinary Gentlemen meets Underworld.

Has Kate Beckinsale been type cast to now only star in movies about Vampires ??? Hey...I am all for it, give her some ice blue contact lenses..put her in latex and "BAM" you have a instant blockbuster...

...but Van Helsing is one to pass up ! For those that have already spent the money and seen it...I do understand your pain.....for those that have yet to see it....save your money and stay at home and pluck your nose hairs...I garuntee it will be more enjoyable !

what are the names of dracula's brides? i'm asking for i'm planning out a fanstory. plus, what exact year does this take place?

All the reviews i have read in movie magz and that have all said Van Helsing is an excellent movie with high ratings ✅

I think they are called:
Cardinal Jinette, Verona and Marishka.
Marishka is the only one I'm sure of.

hmmm, gonna post it here and subscribe myself to it, just a reminder that I have to go see it with friends on wednesday

Thank you for the advise to stay at home...but i like to make up my own mind when seeing a film.

Thank you pipschick, as my opinion was only that...

Do what you must ! 😛

i liked it....but it was a bit too non stop....no breather time to know or begin to actually care about the characters

It's common knowledge that no one's going to put negative reviews of a movie on their own site, but it does show us that there are a few good ones. Roger Ebert, the only movie critic I really listen to, even gave it 3 stars

And while a movie becomes more meaningful if it has a lot of depth to it, it can also make the movie boring. I mean look at Kill Bill. There is not all that much depth to it, but it's one of the funnest movies I've ever seen, you can certainly relate. While Lord of the Rings has about as much depth as you can get, I even thought it was tedious at times.

I can see how somebody can get entertainment from a non stop action movie but its just not for me. Maybe 5 years ago but I definitely need more depth. Kill Bill was great because of how it was filmed and its dialog although the story didn't have much depth. Then again, thats why I liked part 2 more because it did have more of the story to it. Btw: 3 stars isn't really that good of a rating, thats what I expect from a movie as one of the lower ratings, not higher.

Went to see it yesterday. I felt totally underwhelmed.

They obviously tried so very, very hard, but it was another LXG. In fact I enjoyed LXG a whole lot more.

Here are a few thoughts about the movie:

- Opening bit with Frankenstein was sweet. In fact it was the best bit of the whole movie. Shit.
- Dracula was crap. The guy that was playing him also played a henchman in Mission Impossible 2. No way was I buying that Dracula.
- All the special effects were overdone, and because of this the whole film felt very fake, and I didn't care.
- Faramir from LOTR is in it. Sweet. Only, he's an annoying dweeb about as funny as Jar Jar Binks.
- Isn't Igor that guy with the fez hat from The Mummy?
- The vampire brides were the best characters of the movie. I started to pay attention when they appeared.
- When the vampire ladies weren't there, I kept drifting into daydream land. My ONE distinct memory of this movie is CLEAVAGE!
- Kate Bekinsales character is annoying as hell. Typical brave over-zealous strong woman who simply ANNOYS.
- Mr Hyde was done far better in LXG - that's how poor it was. Here he's some loser quasimodo.
- What's with all the cliched action scenes? The corny diving, the slo-mo gubbins. RUBBISH!
- I didn't find ANY of the "jokes" remotely funny. They weren't jokes! Me and my friends groaned at the attempts at humour. We were looking over our shoulders trying to find who the morons were that were LAUGHING at the gags, man, people laugh at the most stupid things.
- Several kids (remember this is a 12A) in the theatre were getting restless. Too boring and OTT for adults and just plain uninvolving for the kids.
- Me and my friends compared it to watching someone else play a video game - you like to watch but feel totally disconnected, and bored.

Also, I've just looked back through this thread. Some of you said it was great..............

Can I have some of what you're smoking? 😮‍💨

Put it this way, it does exactly what The Mummy did with it's character reference.

In fact, wait a minute, this IS The Mummy!

Brenden Frasier = Van Helsing (criminal bad-ass with a heart of gold and falls for the lady)

Rachael Weisz = Kate Beckinsale (typical lady role love interest who has a super-important blood line)

The British Wimp = Faramir's monk character (wimpy yet slightly useful sidekick who can read ancient texts easily!)

Igor = Benny (Heck, it's the SAME GUY WHO PLAYS THEM. Typical turncoat sidekick to main villain)

Anuk Su Namun = Bride of Drac (Kate and Vampy Bride fight, just like Rachael Weisz and Anuk do)

Mummy = Dracula

Wolfman = Scorpion King (Good guy turned evil and is the one thing the main villain can't beat)

Frankenstein = Ardeth Bay (Ambigous character who we think would be bad, turns good and helps save the day)

Wow, it looks like there's even more parrellels to The Mummy than I thought. Like I said: CLICHED and TYPECAST NONSENSE!

wen't to see it last night,IT ROCKS!!!!!!! it was sad at the end but i still give it a 10 on the rating! it totally rocked when he kissed anna!

I liked it. Little too sappy at the end.

Well, if they're exactly the same, why is it that Van Helsing was excellent, while the Mummy bored me to tears?

I started this thread why does it say lord froth did?

because its been merged

I enjoyed the Mummy, this one is a bit to long 😖 Funny how it works isnt it. 😄

In the beginning, after the Frankenstein bit I thought I was watching Hugh Jackman do a weird audition for the Bond part 😑 whats with the pointless adventure, going to the base, get chewed by the boss, get info and have a geek give you weapons?!
