I think welfare, or whatever a nation calls it (here in Australia it ranges from living allowance to "the Dole"😉 is a vital part of any socially developed country that has a cash economy, as no matter how good things are, there will always be those who are less fortunate, lacking work, or are ill, or have children to care for etc who need financial aid in order to live. Of course there are always those small numbers who use the system as a way of avoiding work, but overall it is something that aims to allow people to live, be healthy and get an education while, in Australia at least, they try to get a job and back on their feet. True, we pay taxes, and are in fact supporting them, but I think we have a duty to help our fellow menn and women in this fast paced world.
