Kurt isn't the best person to send against Wolverine. By his own admission Wolverine would take him down rather handily. Kurt lacks the proper mentality to go up against a serious Wolverine. Nightcrawler is more of a setup man in my opinion. He could pressure Wolverine and harass him, but direct combat would end badly for Kurt.

I think that Nightcrawler COULD win.... but it would be difficult. At the speed that he teleports at .... it could make him a little dizzy donctha think? I mean.... Logan could beat him..... he could beat Logan.... it depends on their state of being.

Wolverine is possessed by the demon Hive and Nightcrawler has to fight him. Nightcrawler manages to separate Logan from the rest of the group then teleports away. Nightcrawler implies that he can't beat Wolverine when Logan is in control of his own body.

Also remember there is a small window of opportunity for a person to piggyback off Nightcrawler's 'ports if they are fast enough. Wolverine's fallowed Kurt through a port, even though they weren't in contact when he teleported.
