Thor Movie

It did depend on the creative team handling Thor. Kirby and Lee's JIM run had Asgard with a pseudo fantasy/sci-fi feel. Even the art for Asgard in the recent Avengers: The Origin miniseries looks more in line with a space kingdom than a mythological one. And in Avengers #1, during the oral history of the Avengers segment in the back, someone - I forget who - states that Asgard's "magic" is just off the charts kind of tech.

I have a feeling that they're going more in line with the cosmic/scifi feel of Thor than the overt fantasy and myth feel for this movie. His divinity will probably be cast in doubt by most of the mortals or explained as him being an "extradimensional being" in which the Norse God of Thunder was based on instead of outright stating he is the same god. So long as it's well made, I won't have much of an issue as I've enjoyed both takes of the character.

May 14 2010 - Chris Hemsworth interview after principal filming has wrapped.

Chris bulked up. This move is going to be great.

From what I gathered from the scenes shot, it looks like Thor will be depowered/mortal for a good state of the film. If so, hopefully his scenes fully powered will be off the hook.

💃 💃 💃

Glimpse of Odin (looks great!)
Glimpse of Heimdall (looks just fine)
Chris in the full gear - looks like that concept art was right.
And he looks pretty big! Maybe not as big as Classic/616 Thor, but he's right on point with the Ultimates version.

ultimate Thor is better anyway. imo.

He's a god in both 616 and the Ultimate universe. I think they might try to explain him as some kind of extra-dimensional being or some other sci-fi shit in film, but also show us, the viewers, that Thor is a legit god.

What part of "ultimate Thor is better anyway. imo."... suggested an affirmative was being stated? Perhaps you were so ready to be a jackass, you looked over the "imo", portion of the statement; or perhaps you're just a goddamn idiot who doesn't know what "imo" is an abbreviation for. Or maybe, the more likely scenario is that you failed to read all the comments before you replied and therefore, didn't comprehend the context in which my statement was made. Whatever the case may be, you're a quick to react, presumptuous, dick.

Hold on, they call Thor an alien? Really?

It's not the first time this topic was touched on however. Warren Ellis did during his run.

Like I said earlier - I think they are going to play the godhood thing vaguely for a while. It would be easier for SHIELD & company to think Thor and his people are extraterrestrial/interdimensional beings, rather than thinking myth is reality. And if the plot of Avengers involves an alien invasion by Skrulls( or the Chitauri, from the Ultimates), then maybe that ties into them wondering if Thor is part of the invasion or not.
I can see how Nick Fury would put it to Thor: "We want to have your help. But you gotta understand; there are a lot of voters out there who are serious about their judeo-christianity faith, or whatever. It gonna upset a lot of people to find out what they hear in church on sunday is a myth, and you're the reality, standing right in front of us. Hell, I think I'd prefer not to know any more; just so long as you're trustworthy."

You have a good point and I could actually picture Fury saying that. You right better dialogue than Bendis. Well, I guess that's not hard...

Lo res look at Sif

Have they cast Balder yet? I've heard the casting for Sif, Heimdall, and the Warrior's Three, but not anything of Balder yet.

I've speculated that Matthias Schweighöfer could be playing Balder - his character name is still blank on the IMDB page.

Sif, up above, from what I see looks like a real shield-maiden. And Thor looks like he's being restrained by the Destroyer.
