Thor Movie

Oh, I liked it very much, but I wasn't impressed like some of you. Easily better than IM 2 and Spidey 1 and 3. I liked Hulk better than Thor, though. I actually liked the Hulk movies. :runs and hides:

Only Hulk movie i liked was the one with Ed Nortan.

Not bad. Hopefully it breaks the $400 million mark without counting DVD sales etc. That would definitely guarantee a sequel.

Oh trust me a sequel is already guaranteed. Its already more than doubled its production budget. But yeah $400 million+ would be nice, and would put it in league with the X-Men movie franchise.

Thor seemed to start out good at the box office but seems to be dropping fater than Superman Returns. I'm guessing the diehards went to the opening weekend but it will fade away fast like the Hulk or the FF movies. And on top of that Superman Returns figures are fom ticket prices 5 years ago.

You have to remember Superman Returns should have been a billion dollar movie. Its got the name Superman, but im betting Thor will still beat that big failure.

Oh and Thor's already beaten the Hulk and FF movies.

Thor is holding up pretty well, both here and overseas. It's second week dip wasn't as big as was thought. It might actually come close to Iron Man numbers, when it's run is finished.

There wasn't much competition. Next week, Thor will probably have a much bigger drop. Plus, you have to adjust inflation, etc...

Over here in oz it had compettion Fast Five knock it down into second place.

Fast Five was shit. Here, Thor knocked Fast Five out of the first place spot. Still betting Thor beats it out when all is done.

Get out. 😐

😂

The movie has made $348,815,473 million world wide as of Sunday. I'll happy and content if it breaks the $400 million mark. $500 million is a bit unrealistic imo, I just want enough to guarantee a sequel.

Thor might drop more next weekend, but it's got such a good start that it will ease into profitablilty very early, not scrape into it with DVD sales.

Adjust inflation for what purpose? I'm just getting some satisfaction it's doing much better than many other Marvel properties that have been considered more surefire - because this is the most farout concept Marvel has done for the big screen yet - and that it's going to be bigger and better liked than Superman Returns.

There is more competition, so of course it will drop. Pirates will be pretty big for sure and that opens up next weekend. Like Digi stated in the other thread, inflation plays a big part in numbers. I'd personally judge on number of tickets sold vs box office. I think Thor will barely make it 200 domestically.

If it does hit 200 domestically, I'd wager it'll be above 450 million world wide, tripling it's production cost.

Looking forward to the sequel but I hope it's set in Asgard and the other realms. Every other hero is set on Earth including Avengers. This Marvel's chance to explore the realms outside of Earth. A Lord of the Rings style adventure for Thor and the warriors four would be epic. Throw in Balder the Brave and have them hunt down the Twilight Sword or Casket of Ancient Winters across the nine worlds. Doesn't need a lot of CGI, just encounters with the alien trolls, elfs, fairies, etc. of the nine worlds would make it an interesting movie.

Thor 2: The villain steals the macguffin! Thor and company must travel the 9 worlds to find it! Along the way he finds a mysterious horse faced alien who he thinks is a badguy.

- BetaRayBill.bat

- Badguy uses macguffin: Power overwhelming!

- What's this? Double Thors?!

- Engage victory.

Alternately: Macguffin stolen and used - Asgard is Dark World now.

- In the commotion, Thor ends up somewhere else - finds friends and allies on the way back.

- BetaRayBill.exe

- Double Thor victory - Possibly with a "Thor is down? Wait, no, BRB is Thor too." moment and/or hammer-tossing-power-share fight sequence.

Oh its defo made enough for a sequel. Both Fantastic Four and Batman Begins got sequels for less. Usually $300million is enough for a sequel (with Superman Returns being the exception as it cost $250 mil and was expected to make close to a Billion..

But your right, im also hoping for $400mil+ and you right that 500 is pushing it.

But I cant believe Fast and Furious 5 has made like 450 and still going!!

Turns out the post credits scene wasn't directed by Kenneth Branagh, but was actually directed by Joss Whedon.

40 minutes long (edited down later to a 5 minute video review), but very funny and in depth.

I was kinda disappointed in the movie.

It just didn't felt epic enough overall.

Strangely, I did like Natalie Portman in this, whereas usually I don't care for her work. When he became Thor again to fight the Destroyer, that was pretty moving, must admit I almost teared up at the awesomeness of that transformation.

Thor showed some serious flight speed.
