Anyone else think SHIELD gathered up the inert Destroyer, and it will reappear in Avengers?

That would another amount of crap. SHIELD using the Destroyer, god...And about the Nick Fury being black thing, it's been declared long time ago they are mixing elements of the Ultimate universe with the 616 one, so Nick Fury being black is fine by me, what's not fine is the mis-usage of classic characters. Seeing all this 8/10 ratings from you makes me believe marvel fans are disappearing. The first Blade was far a better movie thans this, and had a far lower budget.

I'm a little afraid to think about it. The pacing on these Marvel movies have been so weird that the more characters they try to pack in there the more unbalanced they become.

SHIELD wouldn't be able to use it, but they might just take it and store it, try to figure it out. Maybe the threat is so great in Avengers, Thor gets access to it and is able to use his re-established title as heir to the throne to command the Destroyer to do his bidding. Or better yet, shows what it's really capable of by putting his life force inside it and fighting in it, becoming even more of a bad ass!

You know Marvel has a pretty big hand in these films right? and they have to transpose it to the screen so it will appeal to more than just hardcore comic book fans. I had a couple of thor comics when i was a kid, and know of Thor but that is all. I don't know all the ins and outs of his character or the other characters. but for myself and my wife and our niece who saw it we all loved it and thought it was very well done for a super hero movie that has quite a silly premise. Seeing the hardcore comic book people not like these movies makes me believe they will not like ANY movie based on a comic book unless they go do it themselves.

That's the thing though. It was pretty good. For a comic book movie. With a silly premise.

I mean, I enjoyed it but I don't consider "It could have been worse" a huge success.

Balder would be a great addition in a sequel. Loved any and all scenes that did not include Midgard. Asgard looked stunning and sets up the groundwork for the next Thor.

Agreed.

Saw the movie and liked it alot. Can't believe it's not doing better at the box office though. I just found out Superman Returns 6 day total was 97 million while Thor's is at 80 million domestic. I can't wait for Cap to come out while I'm not too thrilled about GL.

Superman is more widely known I'm guessing.

Liked the movie. Enjoyed the subtle references which most wouldn't get, unless they read comics.

I could have done with a bit more time added to the movie, but the film had to appease people who don't read comics.

Thought they did Thor justice as a character. He smited well.

Glad I wasn't overloaded with special effects. Liked the Warriors Three and Sif. Loki was a pleasant surprise. Thought the guy playing him pulled it off well. Obviously Hopkins did Odin justice, Heimdall was also good imo.

I liked that the "magic" had some basis in theoretical science. I thought the movie was well done overall. Was a good mix of humor thrown in as well.

Thor had a bigger opening weekend in North America than Superman Returns ( $66 million to $50 million), critical support that's even better and audience approval that's way higher.

Superman Returns cost more to produce, and ended up grossing just under $400 million worldwide. In one week in North America - plus the prior week it opened early in the several international markets - Thor has already grossed $275 million worldwide. It's already proved to be a much more popular property overseas than Hulk, Fantastic Four or X-Men. Chris Hemsworth is getting a huge amounts of film offers to do around his time in the Avengers series.

I think it's assured; it's going to be much bigger than Superman Returns in the end.

Just saw it today, I thought it was great.

Loki was done extremely well. In this film he actually acted like a jealous brother while in many of the comics he just acts like some psychopath with little motivation for the things he does. In the comics I think Loki rarely acted like he was Thor's brother, or Odin's son. In the movie, even once he finds out he's Lafi's son, he still considers himself part of the royal family.

The destroyer was a poor choice for this film; in the comics, it's whole initial premise was that it was so far above Thor, that he had no choice but to use his brains to win since his powers were useless. In this case, he just beats the thing through brute force. I think Durok might have been a better option for the plot-role he was filling.

The action was good and i'm surprised that they actually kept it down a bit. The only fight scene that seemed unnecessarily extended was the frost giant one, and even that was enjoyable at least.

I give it an A. It wasn't as good as Iron Man but it still beats the majority of superhero films by far.

Thor seemed to start out good at the box office but seems to be dropping fater than Superman Returns. I'm guessing the diehards went to the opening weekend but it will fade away fast like the Hulk or the FF movies. And on top of that Superman Returns figures are fom ticket prices 5 years ago.

Oh, there is one problem I had with the movie: why didn't Loki just freeze Thor?

We'll see after this weekend how it's holding up.

Well he kind of failed that when he got pinned by mjolnir... and still made no attempt to fight back, even though he's had no trouble using tricks and sucker attacks before.

I honestly have no idea what the vast majority of the writers or artists look like.

The only one i spotted in the movie was Stan Lee(of course) and also J. Michael Straczynski and that Ralph Macchio first i've heard of him

what the hell is the large block of rock from them pictures.

Rage has a list of them all a page or two back. That one's rumored to be a formula or something.
