Thor Movie

I could definitely see Gerald Butler in this role - coming off the recent Beowulf & Grendel, and the upcoming 300.
Not as big as most wrestlers, but still tall at 6"2 and he's quite well built. He looks quite a lot like Ultimate Thor with the right makeup & costume. And if they want to make him bigger with a muscle suit - maybe it could work.
He's the best pure ACTOR I can think of.

This one can be in the movie but not as thor...6'6" no exceptions.

I really have no idea why all of you folks are complaining SOOOOOO much about certain actors playing certain characters...

I abhorred the idea of Tobey Maquire being spiderman... but guess what... those 2 movies are probably some of the best recognized comic book movies ever.

Brandon Routh I thought was going to be a horrible Superman, having myself loved the Christopher Reeve Adaption, but you know what? I couldn't wait, and I love that movie, Brandon Routh came off great.

You guys act like looks are everything, but hte ability to act is worth so much more.

I'd much rather watch a movie with a character that acts the part well, then looks the part.

Brandon is the perfect Superman in height and shape. Thor is more of a challenge because he shows in a more exposed way.

has any got any news of a sequel to SR?

It is the same cape.

lol shut up red

Have you guys saw Bobby Lashley on WWE. If they can find a guy with that kind of body that is white and has a bit of acting skulls or can at least show emotion then they could be on a winner.

Thor will bring the best from Marvel. Just think about the Avengers and Asgard alone.

Jouko Ahola. When I watched Kingdom of Heaven I remember thinking "that guy would make a great Thor". I'm not sure how good of an actor he is... he died in the first twenty minutes of that movie but with the barbarian hair/beard he certainly looked the part.

He is the guy standing in between Orlando Bloom and Liam Neeson

I saw that movie, and thought the same thing - a potential Thor here.

Still paper Thor.

I don't think Thor would be popular enough to create interest in a movie.

I don't think they are capable of making this movie.

I see this movie only working in one way. Make it a LOTR-King Arthur-Kingdom Of Heaven style 'epic' film, about the gods and their battles, Frost Giants, Trolls etc.

Still unsure on who to play Thor, but give the man the beard. And just remember that Thor isn't as big as some of the other gods.

James Woods as Loki!!!!!

Thor is heavily mentioned in much of pop culture for the last 50 years - movies, songs, record albums, novels (like Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.) It's because of the comic series that his profile has been so raised, though many are not readily aware of this.
Conan got heavily into pop culture because of the comic series Marvel started, not because people everywhere started to pick up the old Robert E. Howard books again.
In any case, Marvel must be careful to take the right approach, to make this suceed.

Thor cannot have beard...Hercules does.

Thor is in mythology, most people (general public) don't know he is a comic book character, and if a movie of him was to come out, most people will see it as a heavily religious bounded movie, which would make most people nor bother, too much believe this, and faith that, and then he pulls out a hammer... okay?

There are lots of characters in mythology - Stan Lee chose Thor because the Norse Gods were less visible at the time. People aren't just familiar with Thor because Thursday is named after him. The comic has raised his profile.

Don't I know that? But you seem to ignore this is Marvel not mythology. For that our Thor must be the comic book character.
