Should Children up to the age of10 be allowed to vote

Started by DemonicGambit-23 pages

I doubt that a 10 year old would have the capacity to understand everything about politics, heck I didn't understand it and some of it I still don't. So it would be hard for me to imagine a 10 year old voting on who they think would better the county.

Yup, ludicrous idea. And I sympathise with Julibug- I look at many 18 year olds and wonder why the heck we give them the vote. Plenty of people- especially at that age- FEEL they are mature enough to vote but don't actually understand a damn thing about anything.

now... if you wrote "16" there could be SOME discussion 😉😛

Yes... hmm someone should make that thread. 🙄

Is this thread about children "up to the age of 10" or is it about children "over the age of ten" getting the vote.

Personally I believe the whole problem can be sorted out by using the one man, one vote system... I am the Man, and its my vote...

I agree, I'm nearly 21, and I will not be voting this term becuase I feel I am too ignorant about polotics and those running for office to make a intelegent choice about who should be president.

I believe that a comprehension test should be administered to everybody registering to vote. That way, those of us who are underage, and who have more sense than many adults, could enjoy the right to vote.

Do you really think they know what is happening. They will pick the person who looks cool. They don't care what is being said.

I'm EXACTLY in the same position as BackFire on this one. Same age, same reason....hell same city!

But there are some of us who are underage that feel very strongly about politics. That's the very reason why a comprehension test should be administered, as SAtown_punk said. If we are underage and would like to vote, we should be given the chance to do so. Let's look at the last election...it was decided by 500 petty votes. If 500 underage people had wanted to vote, the outcome could have been different, and I know there are at least 500 underage kids who have more sense than their parents when it comes to politics...me being one of them.

Go to the 16+ thread to discuss this topic; I believe everyone agrees that 10 year olds can't and won't vote.

it will never pass.

a 10 year old understands jack about politics anywayz

can we get a mod to close this bad boy..it's practically a dupe thread except the criteria is a little outrageous...

I think when Ash made this thread, he made a mistake on the title. It should read "should anyone of the age of 10 be allowed to vote?"

i think we should. im thirteen. i have many politcal views of someone of my age. becuse of that fact i wish i could vote and my views could be heard. i am responsible and mature and i wish i could vote. i unlike most people of my age have reasons for my views and i wish that i could vote. i wish so much.

no, most people shouldnt be allowed too, people should have to pass a test to prove they arnt an idiot first.. if you know the issues go vote please, if you dont please dont vote even if ur 18+

that test idea.. that is a good idea

Sorry...I'm not sure that too many teens understand the political games, wheels-within-wheels methods of thinking...so even though I'd benefit by it personally, keep the voting the same 👇

I stated the test thing in another forum, and people have argued that it would cause a rift in democracy and form a sort of second class. And I guess that is true. That's why I think a test should only be given to those of us who are underage that would like the chance to vote.
