Is there too much Violence on tv these days?

Started by Dreampanther5 pages

I say there's not enough violence! What is it with those wimps on WWF and WWRaw any way? Weeners! My grandmother would kick their ass! I say more violence! I say put those meat monkeys in a steel cage, give them chainsaws and don't let them come out until somebody's head is sawn off!

Yay for blood and guts! Give me some real entertainment! What am I paying a tv license for? So people can pretend to beat each other up? Enough with the fake violence! Enough with the special effects!

Give me violence or give me nothing!
Yay!
Violence!

it seems today, that all u c, is violence in movies and sex in tv 😂

Usually those who claim there’s too much violence or sex on TV are Christians.
Has anyone read the OT lately…?
It should be X-rated. Murder, genocide, incest, bigamy, and infanticide…

The hypocrisy.

I don’t know if there’s too much violence. There’s too much crappy Reality-TV…
Bah!… and too little sci-fi!

So censorship is NEVER acceptable - NEVER!!!! Oh, unless you are a parent censoring what your kids watch?

So you contradict yourself in the space of 6 words and thats the End of story - and have the gall to say Jm is an idiot. Sheesh.

No, what she's saying is that if parents would bother to keep track of what their kids are watching, there wouldn't be such a stink about censoring what's on TV.

Whatever you think she meant - It's there in black and white.

"censorship is NEVER acceptable, monitor what your kids watch"

Its a direct contradiction.

No. You think they are two different things - that doesnt make them different.

You think it's acceptable for a parent to decide what it's child can watch or see or read. You think it's wrong for the state to do similarly. I dont care either way which is wrong or right: what i'm saying is they are both a type of censorship: any moron can see that.

Different as all hell, one acceptable to some people not to another both to some and neither to some but they both are censorship of material.

If someone says all censorship is bad "NEVER acceptable" (never in block caps in case we were in any doubt) and the next word - the NEXT word is advocating censorship - just a different form of censorship - then they need to rethink.

MrZ is absolutely right. Its direct contradiction.

Censorship is censorship no matter in what form. The only difference here he mentioned is that one censorship is on a macro and the other on the micro level - in context they are EXACTLY the same.

Reality TV does suck with the exception of Real World/Road Rules: Battle of the Sexes. 🥷

The first Real World was okayish. From then on it was pretend to act soap opera cast members. The way I see it networks are losing money by not putting more violence on TV. Betcha that if they were to televise a Public Execution from Death Row the ratings would sky rocket.

Well Zero, you've convinced me, parents should not censor what their children watch, when I have kids, the first thing they're watching is Audition.

And for the record, "The Real World" is an awful show, regaurdless of what season we're talking about.

I agree Real World is pathetic.

and censorship is fine. I'm telling my kids how to think all the way until they're 12. Then, I'm sending them to Taiwan to get a quality education putting together Nike's in a sweatshop.

Oh don't go twisting my wordsa to abdicate your parental res...AH! THE IDEA OF YOU BREEDING!! AAAARGH!! AAARRGHHH!! MY BRAIN!!!

It does make me laugh how there's warnings on before wrestling. Not the fact that there's warnings just the fact that many a parent has gone "Bah. It's only wrestling, how bad can it be? Go ahead Jonny, watch it."

Then the Kid goes an gives a kid in the playground a neckbreaker and the WWE get sued.

If you ignore the warnings, whatever happens after that is your own problem.

oh COME ON!!!! lets get out of the 'technical zone' and think practically shall we?

the f.c.c. fining howard stern for saying "balloon knot"
is not of the same caliber as a mother forbiding her 8 year old kid
from watching a porno. the mother is doing her parental duty, and the
f.c.c. is being a bunch of nazis.

there is family and there is law. WRITTEN ENFORCABLE LAW.

whether a parent decides that their kids should watch this, but not watch that is not written into law. its the rules of that particular household, and it should be up to those parents what the law of that house is.

now, when you have big government playing parent for the general public, and ENFORCING LAW based on those parental rules...thats moving into the 'creepy zone'. now i know there are exceptions, we cant have 'debbie does dallas' on the air along side saturday morning cartoons, so resonable regulation and common sense are always needed. but to nitpick and say we cant have ANY violence on the tv because children are always watching is bullshit.

its not a black and white issue, but i think society as a whole has settled on a comfortable medium, but the unsilent minority of cencorship freaks want ALL media to be rated G, so they can just let the TV raise their kids without any worries.

I'd never allow my kids to watch teletubbies, I dont want them to grow up thinking it's alright to parade around jabbering like a weirdo! 😠

I think it's the parents job to know whats right and whats wrong, but I think banning power rangers and stuff like that is over reacting...
