Just got back from seeing not "V For Vendetta" but "V For Vendetta: The IMAX Experience" 😛
Overall, I was seriously impressed. Yes there were some minor and major things left out, but it's a movie... you have to sacrifice some things, and change a few details, in order to get a smooth transition to the big screen.
The fight scenes were some of the best I've seen... ever. Namely the end,
Spoiler:The casting was done excellently. And overall, I was thoroughly impressed and entertained. That's what I was looking for, and V delivered.
with V's words to Creedy about running out of ammo, and V slaying them all before they were able to reload. And, of course, the blowing up of Parliament. And the dominoes. Oh the DOMINOES. I don't know if it was the speech, the music, the sound system, or the visual, or a combination of it all, but it gave me some serious chills. I also thought the torture scenes were done very well.
I have just returned from seeing 'V For Vendetta'. I thought it was an absolutely wonderful movie. It was pertinent for our time, well directed, intriguing, and I loved V's use of language. There were many excellent scenes, but my two favorite were at opposite ends of the movie; I loved the opening alliterative monologue and the final scenes of the masses reclaiming the streets.
If we begin to see more 'comic book' adaptations like this, then the bar of Hollywood movies has been significantly raised. It was an intelligent and thought-provoking movie. After watching it, I immediately went to the book-store in the tallest building in the world, and purchased Alan Moore's 'Watchmen'. I haven't read a comic book since I was 14, when I was an Asterix and Obelix fanatic, but the strength of this movie rekindled my interest.
Admittedly, it's not a perfect movie, but it has a lot of courage and imagination, and is not afraid to tackle some difficult issues.
Great stuff.
I went to see V for Vendetta last night, and I have to say, this film annihilated the current bar set for comic book films and raised it to a level I don't see anything in the current crop of films achieving.
I recommend it to everyone. Whether you enjoy comic book movies or not, hell, if you like movies, period, or not, you have to see that film.
As a comic book fan (and a fan of V in particular, it's one of my all-time favorite graphic novels right there with Watchmen and Dark Knight Returns), I'll admit it was not 100% accurate to the source material, but to say the movie was superbly done is an understatement.
The sentiments of the film are so poignant to the current day socio-political climate it's almost as if the story, which was written over 2 decades ago, were specifically crafted for this era. The acting and dialogue are exceptional, the visuals are uncanny. I couldn't find one thing I didn't like about this movie. It even transcended simply being a comic book to film adaptation to simply being an excellent film, regardless of genre. It's so much more than just a comic adaptation. I was thoroughly impressed.
You must see this movie.
I saw it last night, and I was extremely pleased with it. I hadn't read it beforehand, and I won't now that I know what happens, since I hate reading lol, but I went into it hoping that it would be good but thinking that it would end up being a boring film that tried too hard to pass off tiresome scenes as drama. However, I was surprised, and it was very good. I recommend it, but don't go see it if you're the type that thinks a film like Gone in 60 Seconds was Best Picture material because "that was cool when that car blew up" lol.
I have just got back from seeing V for Vendetta and I thought it was amazing. There are so many things I loved about like, V quoting from Shakespeare, the end sequence, the fight scenes and the fact it was a different kind of Comic Book movie from all the other ones that have come out over the numoures years. Denfinally the best movie of 2006 so far, but I wait and see if I can still holds that tiltle because there are still movies like, X Men 3, Superman Returns and POTC 2 to come out.
im seeing it some itme this week didnt have any money to see it the day it came out. I feel that this movie is very appropriate for hte times that we are living in now. The movie is obviously going to tryto make a point but no one ever fallows these points am i right. But we might and probably will end up like the goverment in V
I thought it was pretty good. Throwing aside the comic for a second and just viewing it as a movie, I realized at some point that I was in the "edge of your seat" mode while watching it. And not so much for the action, but the characters. Hugo Weaving did a stand-up job with V, and it was a pleasant surprise for me.
