Know-it-all! first of all, I practically study the Harry Potter books. and if you didn't notice, Umbridge was really rude! as a matter of fact, she just might be worse than Professor Snape! She acts like a freakin' Communist! she was telling them what they can and can't do! and if you didn't notice, whenever the Slitherins did something wrong, she either ignored them, or blamed it on one of the other houses! and that so called Latin word Dolor, well that probably applies to her bringing grief down on everybody else, not her living in grief. cause she seems to get pretty angry at watching other people suffer! Now quit arguing with our own form entertainment! and if you aren't going to join along, then you shouldn't have bothered coming to this thread! 😠

Hehe, first of all, I do agree that Umbridge was a nasty person, as I said she was created to be nasty by JK. Secondly, for someone who studies the Harry Potter books, you spelt Slytherin wrong. As you can see, there is a 'y' there, not an 'i'. Thirdly, I do realise that the dolor refers to her bringing grief on everyone else, and that was my rather feeble attempt at sarcasm. Incidentally, the closest word in Latin to 'Umbridge' is 'umbra', as far as I can tell. That means ghost or shadow. Make of that what you will. Next, Communism is a good idea - it just doesnt work because humans are greedy, selfish and ambitious by nature. Finally, I decided that since dear old Dolores was being routinely tortured, killed and sliced and diced by more and more lethal instruments, (my favourite being the washing machine idea), I thought at least someone should look at her from a literary standpoint, taken as a three dimensional character rather than simply a sadistic lunatic, and attempt to pose some sort of defence for her actions. I don't particularly think she deserves a defence, but lawyers have to disregard what they know sometimes and take an objective viewpoint on their cases. I don't actually think that any of my prior points are invalid, and I'm just wondering why two poeple now have suggested that I oust myself from this thread. Just try taking another standpoint on Dolores. PS. it's Sl Y therin. With a y. Not an i. And I probably know more about Harry Potter than you. Which is irrelevant all the same. Yeah anger management didn't work for me either Rupert lover, so I would diffidently advise morphine, or at least breath into a paper bag. But dude chill, and if you don't have a class E licence and is 18 years or older, that bulldozer ain't happening any time soon. So dude, relax. This is a forum, and opinion is like a nose. Everybody has it and everybody is entitled to it.

#1 Rupert Lover, I don't dislike this thread at all, else I would not have posted here. I found it very interesting and simply wondered what the general reaction would be if someone put forth a different aspect of Umbridge. However, I don't appear to be getting any feedback from anyone, and you are acting like an immature person who apparently just wants to cause trouble. I figured if the people on this forum really liked Harry Potter they would thus appreciate a little debate on whether Umbridge had her reasons for her sadistic behaviour. As for your spelling, I was merely pointing out that you contradicted your claim to studying the series by misspelling a very common word used in them. Also, sloppy spelling annoys me, especially when people get there, their and they're mixed up, not that you did... As for know-it-all, I don't like to think that I know everything, and if it did indeed come across that way I sincerely apologise - if my writing appears a little superfluous it is because Im still in English Literature exam mode.

Actually, I'm on this thread, and I'm expressing an opinion that I dont hate Umbridge, to see if anyone has any good ideas or theories regarding her behaviour, so that's wrong. I don't think you own this thread, (I'm not sure how it works), and I don't think you can kick me out, (again I'm not sure), and I am entitled to express my own opinions as long they don't insult anyone, become offensive, or deliberately start unuseful arguments. I don't think correcting your spelling counts as an insult. At the moment, I would say it is you who has come closer to doing that. Good Day!

Ok, I apologise for correcting your spelling, I just thought you were coming on a bit strong with the angry/rant emoticons, and I pointed out an integral flaw in your previous statements. I'm sorry. As for the title of the thread, it is a question, and I answered basically that no I don't hate nor wish to poke Dolores.
