Why oh Why?

Who is condemning homosexuals? Having a homosexual relationship is wrong, but that doesn't mean one must dislike a person based on his or her sexual orientation.

See the "Homosexuality: Chosen or Genetic?" thread.

Why is it wrong? You can't just make such statements seem as facts...
What is your take? Chosen or genetic?

If you say chosen my original statement stands, if you say genetic, then the person had nothing to do with their sexuality and their acts still shouldn't be condemned.

religion gives people an excuse........

well summed up 🙂

I say it is genetic, but this is not the place to discuss it.

My above statement stands then. You have no right to use religion as an excuse for your own views.

My above statement stands then. You have no right to use religion as an excuse for your own views.

But I do. I am a Christian. My morals come from the Bible. Therefore, I can use religion as "an excuse" for my views.

By saying that, you've proved her point true. Some of your morals come from the bible, but the rest come from elsewhere. You can't accept those who are gay, and seeking for reassurance from elsewhere, you say that your religion condones it...even though it doesn't.

depends on the issue.

You can't accept those who are gay, and seeking for reassurance from elsewhere, you say that your religion condones it...even though it doesn't.

OK, who the hell said ANYTHING about not accepting homosexuals? I accept them. I believe having a homosexual relationship is wrong. I seek no reassurances, and, if I so desired, I could check the Bible and find out that God doesn't condone homosexuality, either.

As am I...
My morals are a mixture of all that around me, I say again, the bible is a guideline, using the example of homosexuality again, no where in the ten commandmnets does it say "thou shalt no be gay"

Then again I don't know what bible you've been reading.

I assume you mean the example of Sodom and Gomorrah?

In the Bible homosexuality is referred to as a sin. And not the Satanic Bible or something like that.

Please do 😄

Why don't I just copy-paste something from the "Homosexuality" thread?

Yes, the Bible condemns divorce unless the wife is an adulteress...although I think exceptions can be made for abusive spouses. The women silent in church bit has more to do with the culture at the time where women didn't have the rights they do today.

Leviticus 5: 5-6 "'When anyone is guilty in any of these ways, he must confess in what way he has sinned and, as a penalty for the sin he has committed, he must bring to the LORD a female lamb or goat from the flock as a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin."

Leviticus 18: 2-5 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'I am the LORD your God. You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices. You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the LORD your God. Keep my decrees and laws, for the man who obeys them will live by them. I am the LORD."

Leviticus 18: 22 "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable."

Leviticus 18: "'Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled. Even the land was defiled; so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. But you must keep my decrees and my laws. The native-born and the aliens living among you must not do any of these detestable things..."

Romans 1:24-28 "Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen.

Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion."

I believe the Bible speaks for itself on the issue of homosexuality.

That's the post.

Please forgive me, I grew up with the belief that if you disobeyed the ten commandments you would be sinning, last I checked homosexuality was not mentioned 😊

just understand God denounces homosexuality

but never states that its "immoral", wrong etc etc

does not state that homosexuals will "burn in hell" "ethernal damnation" or anything like that

give me a moment and ill find it irene 😉

here's one, but i think there are a few more

Deuteronomy 23:17 There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel.

Check my above post for more.

Leviticus you say, well I thought that back when the Israelite race was just beginning to blossom, one of the most important things was reproduction so that they would have people to continue the race and to populate the tribes of Israel.

That is the only thing that I could see with why homosexuality would be frowned upon, because there is no desire to create life, in the church's eyes the ultimate goal of having sex between married couples.
