True. George Lucas's writing is awful. No one is arguing otherwise.
Not to mention George only writ and directed the first star wars that came out. The next two that followed he only help out with the story, But he did do a pretty good job with the first one compared to what he did with the prequals.

Why make a new Indy now????O.K....they could have done that one or two years after the last one....not now!!!!
I think they are distroying the series!😠
I totally agree.they are destroying the series by doing one NOW.Like the thread starter said, with Harrison Ford being 62 now he is going to look more like Sean Connerys brother instead of his father.I have lost my respect for Harrison Ford especially after he made an ignorant comment that he would not consider doing another star wars film now because he would be too old now.Yet he thinks he is young enough to do another Indiana Jones film? what queer logic. 🙄
RAY WINSTONE CAST IN INDY 4
FROM EMPIREONLINE -
Oi, Jones, you slag! Ray Winstone's only gone and bloody joined Indiana Jones 4, ain't he. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting, in a Hollywood type fashion, that the British national treasure will play Ford's sidekick. We can probably safely assume that this is not the son role that Shia LaBeouf has been linked with.
Plot details on this third sequel are harder to find than Sankara Stones, but the cast is shaping up very nicely, with Cate Blanchett already on board. One person we've so far heard nothing on is Sean Connery. So is he not returning as Indy's dad? Or is he still negotiating his paycheck?
The, probably, final installment in the Indiana Jones series will start filming in June, from a script by David Koepp in time for a summer 2008 release.

Just so you know It was a Star Wars TV series I believe, not a movie. And he IS too old to be playing in a TV series. Indy 4 is one movie. I would rather he do that.
You make it seem if HF is not up for playing Indy. He is the best man for the job. Name one person who could play a better Indiana than him?
BTW from what I've read around the Internet, he is really dedicated to Indy 4. Sources have been saying that he has been rigorously training at the gyms so that he could play Indy to the best of his ability for the fans one last time. HF gets my respect for sure.
From comingsoon.net:
Indiana Jones 4 producer George Lucas talked to USA Today about the highly-anticipated film, to be directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett.
Lucas told the newspaper that shooting begins in Los Angeles this June and then it's on to several top-secret global destinations. Lucas teased that one will include a waterfall.
Lucas said that Ford's age (64) won't be a problem. "He's not running in any of the movies. He's either on a horse or driving a car or a motorcycle. And he'll play his age in this movie with what's appropriate. The chases are more suspenseful than speedy. Like the rolling ball in the first film — it's not that he's running that fast, it's that there's a giant ball coming at him. And he will get beat up, which is a tradition for us."
Lucas, who also is in pre-production on a "bare-bones, action-heavy" "Star Wars" live-action TV series, said there'll still be plenty of action in "Indy 4," the official title of which he hopes to keep under wraps until the first trailer hits theaters around Thanksgiving.
Sean Connery has yet to sign on as Indiana's father, Dr. Henry Jones, but Lucas said, "We're still trying."
It wasn't his idea to cast Blanchett as Ford's new leading lady, he added. "That's who my director wanted, and I always bow to the wishes of my director," Lucas said of Spielberg. "I approved it because she seemed like a good idea. When I met her at the Academy Awards, I told her, 'Hey, you work for me now!'"

Cool News about Indy4!!! Can't wait!!! BTW, i for one hope Connery ISN"T in Indy4. Yes, i know he's great but i really think his role as Indy's dad retracted alot of what the Indy character was about. Watch Raiders and you'll know what i mean. No sidekick, no dad, just Marion; hope she's in it.
i agree, and this is the reason i think indy4 will be poor. Ford is far to old for the movie to revolve soley around him, which leads me to believe that the movie will consist of many sidekicks and probably to many jokes about his age

That's why I'm afraid as well. The reason why Raiders was good was because it focused around the action/adventure hero Indiana Jones. And for some reason the Nazi's make the movies a lot more interesting to watch because it's more of a good vs evil kind of thing.
That's probably why Temple of Doom was not that successful.

Yeah, the two installments after raiders became a movie which focused around the hero streotypes which were set as indy's character in the first film rather than elaborating on who he was. I think temple failed because of a poor mixture of humor, action and drama. Aswell as bad acting and action sequences that were overly exagerated even for an indy flick... Falling from a crashing airplane in a rubber raft which lands safely and then continues to fall off of a 300 foot drop? That sequencing tells you what is instore for you...crap.

Hey, it's Indiana.. 😄
temple of doom sucked for one very simple reason: kate ****ing capshaw, the most annoying heroine...EVER.
people shouldn't be too worried about george lucas making a huge balls-up of the film. watch any interview with harrison, george, and spielberg...george is very much the punk of the group. i think ford and spielberg have him fairly under control.
